  George Carlin talks about aging
Posted by: RCDad - 07-06-2005, 10:10 AM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (1)

George Carlin's Views on Aging

Do you realize that the only time in our lives when we like to get old is when we're kids? If you're less than 10 years old, you're so excited about aging that you think in fractions.

"How old are you?" "I'm four and a half!" You're never thirty-six and a half. You're four and a half, going on five!
That's the key.

You get into your teens, now they can't hold you back. You jump to the next number, or even a few ahead.

"How old are you?" "I'm gonna be 16!" You could be 13, but hey, you're gonna be 16! And then the greatest day of your life . . . you become 21. Even the words sound like a ceremony . . . YOU BECOME 21. YESSSS!!!

But then you turn 30. Oooohh, what happened there? Makes you sound like bad milk! He TURNED; we had to throw him out. There's no fun now, you're Just a sour-dumpling. What's wrong? What's changed?

You BECOME 21, you TURN 30, then you're PUSHING 40.
Whoa! Put on the brakes, it's all slipping away. Before you know it, you REACH 50 and your dreams are gone.

But wait!!! You MAKE it to 60. You didn't think you would!

So you BECOME 21, TURN 30, PUSH 40, REACH 50 and MAKE it to 60.

You've built up so much speed that you HIT 70! After that it's a
day-by-day thing; you HIT Wednesday!

You get into your 80s and every day is a complete cycle; you HIT lunch; you TURN 4:30; you REACH bedtime.
And it doesn't end there. Into the 90s, you start going backwards; "I Was JUST 92."

Then a strange thing happens. If you make it over 100, you become a little kid again. "I'm 100 and a half!"
May you all make it to a healthy 100 and a half!!

HOW TO STAY YOUNG
1. Throw out nonessential numbers. This includes age, weight and height. Let the doctors worry about them. That is why you pay "them "

2. Keep only cheerful friends. The grouches pull you down.

3. Keep learning. Learn more about the computer, crafts, gardening, whatever. Never let the brain idle. "An idle mind is the devil's workshop." And the devil's name is Alzheimer's.

4. Enjoy the simple things.

5. Laugh often, long and loud. Laugh until you gasp for breath.

6. The tears happen. Endure, grieve, and move on. The only person, who is with us our entire life, is ourselves. Be ALIVE while you are alive.

7. Surround yourself with what you love, whether it's family, pets, keepsakes, music, plants, hobbies, whatever. Your home is your refuge.

8. Cherish your health: If it is good, preserve it. If it is unstable, improve it. If it is beyond what you can improve, get help.

9 Don't take guilt trips. Take a trip to the mall, even to the next county; to a foreign country but NOT to where the guilt is.

10. Tell the people you love that you love them, at every opportunity.
AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:
Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

  Thinking of getting a boat
Posted by: satoch - 07-06-2005, 09:16 AM - Forum: Boats / Planes / Helis - Replies (5)

I live 3 blocks from the lake @ Diversey. There's a very cool spot where the rowing guys practice that would be perfect for RC boat racing. It's always smooth as glass and noise is not an issue. I run my Revo nearby all the time without issue, after all, it's a park. "Come out and play" they say.

Anyhow, I'm hoping that maybe we can get a group of people together to decide on a class of race boats to run. Anybody interested?

  Better motor mount for Mayhem?
Posted by: RCDad - 07-06-2005, 07:45 AM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (13)

I was curious if there is a better motor mount for my Mayhem. Mine moved over the weekend and I lost all mesh. Last night I tore it apart and I guess it just got loose.

It's not the best engineered item on just a great buggy. I wonder if they make a one piece or something designed better?

  CampMaxx 9 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A date hasn't been set yet (for sometime in August). I want to go for sure, anyone else up to it?

Definitely have to experience it at least once if you haven't yet. It keeps calling me back year after year. It's fun racing and camping out there, I always have a blast.

Imagine a Berwyn bash, but you sleep there about 50ft from a track.:evil2

So who's going?

We usually leave on a Friday and come back Sunday.

Here is a list of potential things we can do there

Trophies
Ribbons
BBQ
Mud pit
MINI racing
Drag Race
Jump contest
Fireworks
partying
girls

BTW, it's right outside STL

  Karla Homolka freed from prison
Posted by: RCDad - 07-05-2005, 03:58 PM - Forum: Off-Topic - Replies (1)

Did you guys see that they are going to let the serial killer Karla Homolka out. She's worried someone will kill her so she's going to assume another name and try to hide in another city.

Now this would be my luck, to hook up with something like this not knowing what I got Big Grin

RC Pro Series in Dallas 8/27 & 8/28
Posted by: satoch - 07-05-2005, 12:38 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (8)

Anyone else interested in going to the Pro Series race in Dallas (Euless), TX on 8/27 & 28? http://www.rcproseries.com/divisions/central/ It's only a $15 cab ride from the airport. Hotels are $49/night. Round trip on ATA is $216.

The track is http://www.johnnycoolguy.com

My buddy who owns http://www.rushrc.com will be hanging out with us and surely having a BBQ at his house (which has a pool!!) They also have like 5 tracks around there to check out. And they're about 30 mins away from each other. Maybe after qualifying on Sat. we can go to another track.

It's about a $425 weekend max.

  running BL with AM radio?
Posted by: Notochord - 07-05-2005, 12:26 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (11)

Would it be bad to run a BL with an AM radio because i was thinking about getting the GTB Racing Brushless System and i dont know if there is much point of getting it before a spektrum radio system because my car already starts to glitch a little when i drive my car 150 ft away. so i was wondering if i should get the spektrum first or if it doesnt matter.

  RB 323 pipe on TZ
Posted by: satoch - 07-04-2005, 10:46 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (8)

Well, I just ordered the RB 323 pipe for my OS .18TZ and my soon to be modded TM w/TZ p/s and CrazyNut head. It's a single chamber but I hope it's not as annoying as that Darned Trinity pipe. It's only $26 from Crsipy Critters so I'll try it.

I was getting good snap at the DD race but felt I could get better. If I have to sacrifice a little top end on the TZ I'm sure I'll be fine. That thing was hitting 45MPH easy with a 16t/38t spur using the standard ratio tranny on the Revo. A little more torque and I can put the 36t spur back in and it'll be a wash but hopefully with the low end gain. I hope I'll need to try even harder to keep the front end down!!

Anybody ever try this pipe?

  Sirio .18 Help
Posted by: Obsessive R/C - 07-04-2005, 05:42 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (4)

I have a Sirio .18 drop in for a Maxx. The problem I'm having is the guy who had it before me cut the pilot off the shaft!! (why..I have no idea  ) The problem is I haven't been able to find a pilot shaft adapter to fit.

The threaded part of the crank is the same as a 2.5 crank so...

the pilot for the .15 won't work (thread size way too small)

I bought a New Era pilot shaft for a .21 conversion (uses 2.5 clutch, flywheel, etc.) and apparently standard .21 shaft tread is still smaller..(really close, but still doesn't fit)

Can anyone help me out here??
