  Project ThunderStorm is underway...
Posted by: Mr. Tune - 06-07-2005, 07:56 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (23)

Project #2 for the website is now underway. This one will be to turn my GS Storm into a competative (I hope) 1/8 racer. While the storm may not be the best choice, it was a cheap buy from a friend, lots of parts where donated by firesprink last month, so it was clear cut to use this as my base since a big portion of my funds went into purchasing the revo.

I weighed it before beginning tear down, but I forgot to write it down. Last I remember, it was 7lb ?oz.

First up on the list was to get rid of the old mangled chassis in favor of the donated one since it was a much better condition. Parts are slowly getting cleaned up and installed.

It was purchased as a roller and I've been driving it with the old (stock) electronics since my buddy doesn't need that stuff yet. I went out and picked up some new electronics and a jr receiver (so I can use my xs3 pro for this one too). A hitec 925 ultra speed servo for the throttle/brake and a hitec 945 ultra torque for the steering. I may get some light ribbing from some you for choosing hitec for servos but mind you, I have had great luck with their servo before, so I still use them. Here go some pics for your viewing pleasure.

Before you go any further, although these are supposidely true and hillarious there is some foul language so if that offends you don't read them. If this is inappropriate please just delete it.

I laughed so loud when I read these, I wonder if they are real.

I'm considering trading a laptop of mine for an Ofna GTP but I need to be able to use it off-road since there is no where close to run street cars. Anyway, I did an image search and went to this site, I thought I was on some adult site by mistake.

  Project Darth Revo has begun...
Posted by: Mr. Tune - 06-06-2005, 11:48 PM - Forum: Racers Forum - Replies (237)

The transformation of my stock revo into a potent racer has officially begun tonight. In honor of this occasion I have given this project a name. Project Darth Revo. Cool

First on the hit list...ditching the stock radio.

I pulled the JR synthesized receiver off the savage and installed it earlier tonight on the revo. All the settings are adjusted and the optidrive module has been reprogrammed. Took it out for a spin in front of my house and all is working as planned Smile. Bye bye crappy AM traxxas radio, hello JR XS3 Pro!

Current weight: 9lbs 9.8 oz (emply fuel tank)

Next on the hit list ... Hurricane rims and traxxas response tires.
