Best Bang for the Buck.... - FreeRideFrosty - 11-05-2006 Allright..... I am toying with getting back into the hobby again. If I can sell another bike I should have some more money to play with. (I'll be honest, I almost walked out of Al's with the 8IGHT today. ) I am looking for some opinions as to what is the best bang for the buck buggy to get into racing again with. Now as much as I would like to get an SP2, 8IGHT, Jammin, MBX5 Pro-Spec, etc. I don't think they are necessarily the best route for me right now. What would you guys reccomend? (List ballpark prices it would cost for your whole suggested setup.) I don't care if you pick a RTR, an ARTR, a Kit.... whatever. If you list a kit please suggest a motor, electronics, everything that I would need to run. (Starter box if the motor you pick needs it) etc. I will be starting completely over...... Now accepting suggestions as I put some money away. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-05-2006 u were at als? what time man i was there till like 3 lol well ull prolly give me shit for this but get a TTR Brian is giving his away RACE READy for like 300$ go for it Best Bang for the Buck.... - UE-Maxx - 11-05-2006 Dan, YGPM. Best Bang for the Buck.... - maxximum_44 - 11-05-2006 Dan if were in your position, i'd keep my eye out for a competitive buggy or truggy. FreeRideFrosty Wrote:Now as much as I would like to get an SP2, 8IGHT, Jammin, MBX5 Pro-Spec, etc. I don't think they are necessarily the best route for me right now. Why not? Since the release of Mugens truggy and the new Losi toy, people are flocking to get them and getting rid of their "Race ready" gear for cheap. It's a good time to get in and take advantage of the FOM syndrome that people suffer from sometimes I would start saving my chips, when AE releases their buggy I guarantee you will be able to find some nice stuff for less, even the 8ight. Check the Grid, you can find some good deals. From Slims for Sp2 sale thread: FreeRideFrosty Wrote:A hell of a buy for sure. $250 for the roller, $120 for an OS RG, $150 or so for electronics and you have a VERY nice buggy.Sounds like you've got the right idea Best Bang for the Buck.... - Ponch - 11-05-2006 Take Max44's advice, FOM syndrome is kickin in, watch out for great buggies that people are getting rid of for the 8ight or the Associated buggy in the near future. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Mr. Tune - 11-05-2006 Freeride, ever thought about and xray xb8? I know of a roller and some spares that can be had for $300. I really like the XB8. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Tex - 11-05-2006 the new losi kills all...I don't care what anyone says...I seen it too many times already on the track. They have so much forward traction that all the jumps are easier to hit and it's just faster almost everywhere. If I get a buggy that'll be the one...no reason to get anything else unless your not serious about racing.... Best Bang for the Buck.... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-05-2006 Tex for every guy i have heard say he loves that buggy another says its a pile personal preference thing i guess Best Bang for the Buck.... - Tex - 11-05-2006 everything else is a tank compared to them (at least it seems that way when I'm watching races) I also drove an 8ight today that wasn't set up right for indoor and it was still hooked IMO. It was kinda touchy but if you stay smooth it was the fastest thing I've ever driven. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Ponch - 11-05-2006 If you get to pick up an 8ight in one hand and a regular old buggy in another hand, you can definately tell the weight difference. It's phenominal. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-05-2006 thats not always a good thing Best Bang for the Buck.... - Ponch - 11-05-2006 Yes, but the ability to be more nimble in the corners, accelerate better, and hit the jumps better is We got enough traction indoor that you don't need much weight to be "planted" imo. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-05-2006 weight doesnt make u planted, weighted keeps the car more stable in the bumps and really rough stufff ie the HB truggy that thing is a tank through the rough. unsprung weight is a bad thing sprung weight isnt as big of a deal Best Bang for the Buck.... - Racin' Ranger1 - 11-05-2006 and it makes/will make ponch jump farther into his neighbors yard....j/p Best Bang for the Buck.... - Ponch - 11-05-2006 Naa, not going to bash if I get one. Best Bang for the Buck.... - Mr. Tune - 11-05-2006 Ponch Wrote:Naa, not going to bash if I get one.Liar Best Bang for the Buck.... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-05-2006 DUDE look how many backflips i can do with my eight it has a 37 gallon old RB S7 Europa in it Best Bang for the Buck.... - rocco79 - 11-05-2006 europa! LOL Best Bang for the Buck.... - FreeRideFrosty - 11-06-2006 So what do you guys think about Hyper 7's?? ;-) Best Bang for the Buck.... - rocco79 - 11-06-2006 They make great door stops Best Bang for the Buck.... - thenewguy821 - 11-06-2006 rocco79 Wrote:They make great door stops Seems nobody had anything bad to say about Hyper 7's HERE. That's the Hyper Dan is talking about. Best Bang for the Buck.... - FreeRideFrosty - 11-06-2006 And if I can get into scale somewhat competatively (with mostly my driving holding me back) then why not. If I decide to get back into it hardcore later on I could buy the latest and greatest. Best Bang for the Buck.... - MX_KEVIN - 11-06-2006 How about 8ight RTR http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products/Default.aspx?ProdId=LOSB0081 Best Bang for the Buck.... - Tex - 11-06-2006 For bashing, Hyper7's are great, for racing they are not good. that's my opinion on it anyway. I would really consider what your going to be doing with the buggy Dan. If you are honestly going to be racing all the time, I would shy away from the Hyper7's and GS Storm type buggies. If you are just going to mess around on campus and bash then the Hyper7 would be an awesome choice not to mention value packed. |
