opinions on engines for 8ight - Tex - 02-02-2007

Well, I'm shopping motors for the 8ight build and wanted to get your guys unbiased opinion on what YOU would buy.

I have $200 (+/- a few bucks) to spend...

Here's what I was looking at getting...
RB S72 ($210)
Novarossi .21BF ($175)
OS .21VG ($150)
Werks B3 ($175)

Any other motors in this price range I should look into?

I will not spend over $220 on a motor, period. I'm leaning towards the RBs72.

Tex look into werks.. I have the b7 in my truggy and it is by far the smoothest
engine I have ever run. you know I have tried all the hi dollar italian engines
and the Werks is the best IMO.....

opinions on engines for 8ight - Tex - 02-02-2007

B7 runs about $260 though..... I was looking at the B3, it seems plenty fast from what I've seen at LHR.

It's not that I WON'T buy an enigine in the $250-$350 price range, it's just this time around I want to see if I can be just as happy and get more bang for buck.

pwnzor, that motor you linked looks like something right up my ally. I might look into that more. Thanks for the link

Tex,

I think John was saying go woth the Werks not the B7, He said he had the B7 and loves it. I think he was using it as a brand example. He has had the nova bf and has a werks now. Plus you cant beat their customer service I would go with werks also.

opinions on engines for 8ight - Casketman - 02-02-2007

Plus you get the team support of mike!!!! That right there should seal the deal dude!!

opinions on engines for 8ight - dentguy92 - 02-02-2007

Ya G is right go with the B3. cant beat the bang for the buck....

opinions on engines for 8ight - UE-Maxx - 02-02-2007

You heard me say it at the last race I was at. "I like the werks b3 more than the nova bf."

Werks.

tex, where would you get the RB s7II??? i dont think they sell them anymore

opinions on engines for 8ight - Traxxas_Junkee - 02-02-2007

I would say get the O.S too. Great warrenty and its not that much money to waste if you really don't like it.

opinions on engines for 8ight - Ponch - 02-02-2007

I'd vote for these.

OS .21VG ($150)
Werks B3 ($175)

I've seen both run, they get good runtimes and plenty of power. Both were easy to tune when I was tuning them for others also.

opinions on engines for 8ight - chickenfarmer3 - 02-02-2007

rb s7 series....any of them, or a s5, they are like 210.

opinions on engines for 8ight - rocco79 - 02-02-2007

Tex This is just my .02 but i wouldn't touch that axe motor or the "go" motor with a 10 ft stick. Your lookin to stay budget minded so i wouldnt go with something that you haven't ever seen run at our track. (what if it blows and you gotta get somthin else? Now your out double) Besides, if nobodies runnin them there wont be any "tunning" help locally ethier ...

So far i like what ive seen from the werks line. So i would say go with them
