You know you have to build it right?

From the videos i've seen, the 4.6 hauls ass

Good Choice. The Savage is a beast and probably the best basher out there.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-29-2005

I bought a Hitek 645 steering servo. I could have got a better radio but...

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - Blown5.0 - 07-29-2005

Make sure to get a hump pack for it as well. Access to the radio box is a bit of a challenge, however HPI just came out with a radio box cover that is flexable which should help.

Oh good tip! They say the air filter that comes with it is as good as a Motor Saver.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - thenewguy821 - 07-29-2005

The air filter with the Savage 4.6 is a very good filter.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-29-2005

I should have had the starter box delivered faster. I'm going to be sitting on the porch waiting for UPS to come tomorrow.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - TowShen - 07-29-2005

you wont be disapointed!!!!

and theres not that much assembeling to do on it the frunt and rear ends arr just about competly assembled.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-29-2005

From what others have told me the clutch seems to be the toughest thing to assemble.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - thenewguy821 - 07-29-2005

If the clutch is the toughest thing to assemble, then you should have no problems. Clutches can be a pain to put together, but if you take your time, they go together fairly easily... Just make sure to watch the direction you install the first shoe, If you are looking at the clutch head on, the engine turns counter-clockwise. install the shoes so the trailing edge makes engagement...

Thanks! I told the guys in the Savage forum I'll pick up another case of beer before I get started Big Grin

Nice choice on that 4.6 Savage!

Isn't that an unassembled "kit" though?

don't get me wrong, I would rather build my own truck. Wink

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - TowShen - 07-30-2005

its is a kit but for some reason they preassembal the frunt and rear ends....every thing els is up to you. (i know i walked my manager through the assembally), and with the trans the set screw for the shift, turn it in all the way and then back out 3 1/2 turns and you should be good. also the slipper for the spur gear tighten it all the way the 1/2 turn out the instruction its says will melt the pad to the spur.

and again NICE CHOICE....and half fun with the weelies!

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-30-2005

It's interesting that they don't sell an RTR version. This thing should kick butt though with that .28 engine.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - Michowski - 07-30-2005

they do its a savage 25. Comes already built and ready to go. All you need to do is get a 3 speed trans and .28 motor and you got a 4.6 savy

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 07-30-2005

that 3 speed is an upgrade to either truck. The 46 comes 2 spd like the 25.

ps: don't let your kids paint that body!!!

Well the UPS truck just rolled up, I'll probably be offline for several hours Big Grin

Have fun Smile take pics

yes we want pics

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-31-2005

Well, I stopped at 9:30 pm! Still have to make more adjustments on the turnbuckles. I tell you, this thing is one tough truck. It's built like a tank!

Just opened the box, it was kind of small, at first I thought maybe it wasen't the truck.

The differentials and tranny come pre-assembled which was nice, although I'd much rather them pre-assemble the clutch! Big Grin

Got the front and back bulkheads put together, two huge pins hold them together, very interesting.

Front and rear assembly done, it doesn't seem like the turning radius is going to be very good on this truck, we'll see..

Got the skeleten together, when I've seen pics of the Savage I diden't realize these side ladders hold the entire truck together.

This is the entire radio equipment including the servos! BTW its awfully cramped, hard to get the lid closed.

It's starting to look like a truck

These shocks were soo long! I imagine it allows for alot of travel.

Got the clutch on (hopefully correctly).

Well here's the beast! This thing almost costs as much stock as my Pede with all its upgrades Big Grin

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - Mr. Tune - 07-31-2005

Very nice! You will enjoy it, I promise. Savage love to jump Smile. Just remember that.

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-31-2005

Should I be worried if its a little toe-in and the camber is not completely strait? I've got the castor turnbuckles in the rear completely (closed?) and there is still a little toe-in in the rear. The from camber is still a little off.

The thing is when you push down on the truck the castor and camber change dramatically so maybe its supposed to be that way?

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - RCDad - 07-31-2005

Well I let it idle for a tank then refilled and started to do some half throttle stuff up and down the street. Well I completely melted my spur gear....I guess I had the mesh to tight. I used the piece of paper method but *shrugs*

My luck with nitros...

Tomorrow is going to be a great day! - Michowski - 07-31-2005

very nice looking truck. Unfortunatly the long shocks wont give you a ton of suspension travel with the truck. And just make sure your wheels are pointing straight in the front and maybe a degree or 2 in on the rear. Rear tires like "/\" and the front tires "||". But just a degree or 2 in the rear. Front you can leave pointing straight.
