why is that mike?

Official Car Audio Thread - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 10-16-2007

i just dont see how anyone can enjoy sound like that, to each his own i suppose

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-16-2007

how thick was the wood used for your box?

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-16-2007

3/4" Mdf

Official Car Audio Thread - FreeRideFrosty - 10-17-2007

Ponch you had better not be tuning that sub to shit like todays rap. You will have it terribly out of tune and it will sound like crap on anything musical. A 10" in a sealed box should be tuned to hit hard and clean. I have a whole CD that I tuned my sub into. It may sound strange but you will know you have it right when Earth Wind and Fire sounds good. Covers almost every frequency. It will help you tune the level of the sub to match your interior speakers as well so that it is not overpowering. Now..... if I hear it and all it is is shitty bass and your car sounds like it is going to explode I am putting my fist through the sub.

Official Car Audio Thread - Tex - 10-17-2007

don't take the fun out of it Dan....you don't have to be so serious, it's not like Ponch is entering sounds competitions or anything....

remember, it's all for fun!!

Smile

Official Car Audio Thread - FreeRideFrosty - 10-17-2007

Absolutely. I look at it differently than most. Where some people think its fun to have the loudest, muddiest, sounding bass, I loved to have the best sounding and most balanced sound. More importantly if he doesn't know what he is doing and it is tuned wrong, the signal can start clipping and damage his sub.... Luckily that Type R is probably the best sub he could have. Virtually bomb proof. Haha

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

Hey-

I got a question. Got my wiring today.
So yeah... What is the easiest way to do this? I've read about through the firewall and under the carpet in the interior. The under the carpet part wouldn't be too hard, it's just the firewall part.

Or, some were saying that they routed it along the frame. Seems easy enough. But how do I get it back into the interior CLEANLY? I don't think there's a way...

Official Car Audio Thread - destroy_my_revo_15 - 10-17-2007

yep. gotta find a place through the firewall. thats the only way ive seen it done. clean.

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

Damn. I don't think I can even reach the firewall...That engine compartment is PACKED.

Official Car Audio Thread - destroy_my_revo_15 - 10-17-2007

yeah. thats gonna suck. did you look at alldata for the radio wiring to see which one is the power. you prolly want to know that too before you go and take it all apart.

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-17-2007

dude just strip the car clean, remove the motor, all interior, and all the fenders and run your damn wires. Figure it out cheech

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-17-2007

here ponch DRILL BIT SET - 29 PIECE HIGH SPEED BITS + CASE - (eBay item 170159715548 end time Oct-17-07 17:50:36 PDT)

Official Car Audio Thread - destroy_my_revo_15 - 10-17-2007

jeeeze. if you go that far you should prolly dynamat the whole thing too.

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

Haha. Well I think I found my route. Will only req one hole to be drilled too, and nowhere near the engine. It goes up by the top door hinge, down the edge of the door, and in by where your feet are.

Look OK?

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

The hole I talked about would be right in the third pic, where the wire goes from the outside to the inside. Somewhere there.

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-17-2007

um no. Ive never seen any wire routed through a door like that. I would definatly keep it away from any moving parts like a door. It would suck if somehow the cable become lose and you didnt know it and went to close the door and started cutting through the wire shorting your whole setup out. I would put it were the orange cable is in the third pic and keep it inside the vehicle.

Official Car Audio Thread - destroy_my_revo_15 - 10-17-2007

looks good. as long as you want to drill the hole.

Official Car Audio Thread - destroy_my_revo_15 - 10-17-2007

wait is the wire gonna be right there or like inside the column?

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-17-2007

you know when the door closes the rubber thats by the cable now gets smushed down to like half its size and thats what seals the door closed right?

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

destroy_my_revo_15 Wrote:looks good. as long as you want to drill the hole.

Yeah. I don't mind. Just gotta do it when the parents aren't looking Wink

destroy_my_revo_15 Wrote:wait is the wire gonna be right there or like inside the column?
Like right there inside of some black tubing stuff (the stuff that surrounds all the wires in the engine compartment) and ziptied in place, even if I have to drill a few more small holes.

Michowski Wrote:you know when the door closes the rubber thats by the cable now gets smushed down to like half its size and thats what seals the door closed right?

See, now if you read my post and not just looked at the pics, I said I would be drilling a hole below/outside of that rubber seal so that it shuts correctly.

So. I got the official go ahead? lol

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-17-2007

you said by the top door hinge down the edge of the door and goes in by were your feet are. I would keep it away from the door like how you got it and do something else. But its your car so do what you want.

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

Yeah. Thats where the wire runs. It goes IN by where your feet are (where I'm drilling the hole)

Official Car Audio Thread - Michowski - 10-17-2007

lmao have fun dude

Official Car Audio Thread - Ponch - 10-17-2007

I wonder if I peel back the weatherstripping, if I can wedge the wire under it by the glove box.
