Pro Series Finals - Mr. Tune - 11-12-2006

For those who were wondering how I ran...

I bumped from the B. I started 14th on the grid and was on 10th about 10-15 minutes into our 45 min main. Came over that double before the front straight and the car stopped. It started 2 more times but didn't last more than 10 seconds Sad. Took it back to the pits and discovered that the motor blew up. The sleeve cracked into 2 pieces! We showed it to the werks guy, and he said he never seen any motor break like that. He wanted us to give hime the motor and my info and he would send me a new one under warranty. Smile

Pro Series Finals - UE-Maxx - 11-12-2006

That sucks about your race, but that's good you'll be getting a new engine.

Pro Series Finals - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 11-12-2006

Nice Job to all our "privateers", which is the correct term for racers who get little to no support from sponsors. It sounds like carnage was the rule of the week. I look forward to seeing the final results! Again, good job and hard work does pay off.

Maybe next year some more Chicago guys will challenge the Best of the West!

Pro Series Finals - Casketman - 11-12-2006

But look at how many made their way up the list. We need to be proud of them(not saying we are not! Smile ) for just being there to start. But even more so because of how they ran. They did a great job of showing that the midwest has the talent and has the tracks to raise a challage for anyone in any region of this country.

I give my congrats to everyone that was there and ran. Confusedalute:

+1 on what Mike said, Yes it was an indoor facility but by no means was it an indoor track. Alot of us went with an indoor Bernie type style track set up and it no longer worked, and the track changed rapidly. I know at the start of the buggy day everyone was chasing tire set ups, and inside jobbers where the hot ticket by the 3rd and 4th round it was back to crimefighters, knuckles, chameleons. It was a track that kicked alot of peoples butts this weekends, it was a fast track but being 50 feet up and 70ft away from the track made your car look smaller and not seem as fast. So there would be alot of over shooting or undershooting of jumps. I know I saw stuff that broke on vehicles that I never thought I woudl see break. Look at Dimos engine, John B broke a radio box cover, inside webbing on a shock tower, I tore a shock completely off. I am not even sure what else is broke..LOL Oh yeah dont forget the 2 wings, the body the body posts.

Pro Series Finals - FreeRideFrosty - 11-12-2006

Damn guys! Great job for all of you who ran. Dimo.... sucks to hear about the luck, but great job making it as far as you did. I can't imagine racing for 45 minutes straight.

Pro Series Finals - Eracer76 - 11-12-2006

Great job guys! ....After watching the races yesterday, Im wishing I would have raced the pro series this year,
cause I heard the finials next year will be somewhere south?

That will make it hard for us little guys like me, to go next year...taking off work, paying for gas to drive there, paying for hotel nights, paying the entry fees, and not to mention the cost of running/maintaining the vehicles. Sad

Pro Series Finals - Mr. Tune - 11-12-2006

I'll welcome a race in the south!! It was cold as hell in rockford, even though we were indoors. Bring on the warm outdoor weather next year!

Pro Series Finals - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-12-2006

I agree with you there, it was cold in there yesterday.
I couldnt imagine driving a 45min race with it being that cold.

I just hope I didnt blow any chance I had of ever going to a pro series final...
cause Im not sure I can or will want to afford to go next year if its far away Sad

Pro Series Finals - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-12-2006

satoch Wrote:I'd like to think that I do indeed understand. But if you think I'm missing something maybe you can explain it to me...

Aren't some of our local guys "pro racers"? You, in fact, list the following "sponsors":

Werks racing
Proline tires
Panther Motorsports Design
Team Helotes
Al's Hobby Shop, Elmhurst

What's the difference? Help me understand please....

The difference is they drive on a track everyday and get payed to do it. There job is to become the best racer possible to help promote the company thats sponsoring them. By them driving good and winning top races means that younger kids will buy what there driving because they are winning big races. Its a small price to pay for the companies.

The chitown guys drive on the track only on the weekend and have to pay for it. They only get deals on stuff like half off and what not but they also have a semi normal life like family, a full time job thats not RC. They still work for a living out side of RC so they can pay the bills. The pro drivers lifes are based on rc's and they are full time jobs.
