GWPHOENIX Wrote:then how is anyone to learn how to marshal unless they do it?

is everyone expected to do it properly the first time, and if they cant the get out?
watching is learning too my friend. That is how I noticed those two.

The kid was younger then mich. Never saw him before but heard him say it was his first time there.

And this is not an attempt to bring this up and start another fight. I thought some or most would agree with me. But I guess I am wrong.

So I know some of the marshall stuff like you have to go out when your done with a tank during practice and during the racing stuff. But are there any other things at the track dealing with marshalls? Like age or how they act(stupid towards other drivers,or ignorant, etc).

i agree totally with that. its better to watch and learn, than to stand there and get your self hurt or some ones turck to get broken

Just my .02....

Sunday the marshall issue was bad. Drivers were not going out and marshalling because volunteer marshalls had taken all the spots. All the volunteers led to slow marshalling because of lack of knowledge of where/how to do it.

I personally have no problem with volunteer marshalls on practice nights, let the kids that are old enough to be safe out there go out and have fun being around the trucks. But on race days, mabye Jon should only call out volunteer marshalls for specific cones. Say drivers from race B fill up cones 1,2,3,4,5,6,8, and 10, because drivers 7 and 9 bumped to race A. Now Jon should say that "We need volunteer marshalls at cone 7 and 9 only, thanks"

I think this would make things go better. again, jmo.

For some kids it is dangerous to be out there. I am not sure who's kid it was (And I don't really want to offend anyone if possible) but the kid was marshalling for someone who was racing in one of the higher buggy mains. I just don't think you can put a kid out in the middle of the track in a VERY fast and competative race. I personally took a buggy right to the ribs because when marshalling a wreck on the back straight jump, someone wasn't paying perfect attention. I am 6'3".... it didn't hurt me. If this kid got hit it would have been different. I think for the most part marshall your own stuff unless you CANNOT. (Physically or because you are running in the next main.) If that happens find a capable replacement. Yes, there are kids in the hobby. I do not think they should be marshalling a very fast and competative race unless they are able too. (This was buggy B main or C main I believe. Someone eventually switched with him because he couldn't do it.)

Little, skinny, tiny, blonde haired kid with a grey shirt I believe. I didn't get a name, address, or social security number though. :p:

rocco79 Wrote:well i never saw it broken so many times before!

Sorry Rocco. Sad The first one I couldn't believe. I barely tagged the wall over the back jump and it broke. Must have hit it just right. That last one was me being stupid. I bumped, ran a good first lap, and got a little cocky. I went into the triple section a bit fast. I wasn't all the way in like I thought I was and hit the center of the first two jumps. It caused it to kartwheel and break the hub carrier again. I will get the hang of it. When I calm down and give it some throttle it actually handles really well. (Better and more predictable on power than off I think.)

12/31 racing - Ponch - 01-02-2007

I told you not to bump, and you didn't listen-see what you get? sheesh.

Meh. Whats the use of having it if you aren't at least going to try. I drove a clean first lap, didn't get involved in ANY of the first big wrecks, was feeling confident, and just messed up. Things happen, then I learn from them.
