RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - tonybr_74 - 10-04-2004 If I had a 3000 dollar trunk I would definitely install a fail safe... What do you guys think RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Michowski - 10-04-2004 i wouldnt, I dont trust fail safes. Everyone ive seen i have seen malfunctioned and do more harm then good. The best fail safe IMO is to always have your batteries charged, and make sure everyone knows your running that channel and doing that alone is the best fail safe IMO. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - thenewguy821 - 10-04-2004 I've seen a lot of people run Failsafes, and a lot of people swear against them. I know a couple guys in our group had nothing but problems with a failsafe installed. Such as only going a few feet then the failsafe kicks in... After removing the fs, no problems.... I'm not going to say everyone should take of their fs's if they have them, but I for one, don't run one. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Mr. Tune - 10-04-2004 A failsafe wouldn't have saved that guy's truck. If he lost signal, then yes. If someone else on the same channel hit the throttle, your toast. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-04-2004 Very good point Tune. A failsafe wouldn't have saved it. BTW, that was Jim's JT that struck the wall. I bet he never goes to another MJ again. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - R/C Madman - 10-04-2004 He was pretty pissed! He had a fail safe on there but, that guy that had his radio on was putting out more power and his radio was programed to the opposit of what Jim's JT was so, even though the other guy was not giving it any gas (it was sitting on the ground) Jim's JT was at WOT! Fail safe's do work for signal loss but, by no means for someone on the same channel! RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - DO-U-MAXX - 10-04-2004 I run a failsafe and have had nothing but good come from it. I only ran my batteries low one time at leisure and the failsafe kicked in and stopped the truck. I knew they were dying as I have a battery monitor but I wanted to see how long it would last before it shut down. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-04-2004 I don't use failsafes. MadMan, did I meet you at MJ? I know I've seen your name on the UE forums before. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - SixVi6-Camaro - 10-04-2004 Damn.. that was Jim.. aka AtomicMaxx's JT that went into the wall? He has the worst luck with that. It ran away at the last MJ and almost got lost in the tall weeds and grass. I hope he get that back together with minimal problems. I'm kind of curiouse to see what broke on it too because he was running some serious bracing and had the stiffer Dace top plate with VBS.. well basically the works. No failsafes here either. just a throttle return spring and I charge my RX Pack after every time I run it and many time before just to be safe. Nothing can save you from someone being on your channel. Also be carefull because some failsafes are not compatible with FM radio gear and will actually cause runaways and glitching. I wish I could have gone but I had some... unplesantness on the way there and decided to call it off. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - snakebite46 - 10-04-2004 Right front took the hit. Upper arm bent really bad. Upper PB broke in upper arm Lower arm cracked at hinge pin and severly bent VBS skid bent Looked like the bottom JT plate bent upwards Right rear ballend broken The VBS looked ok but, It may have bent at the hinge pin holes. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-04-2004 Jim's racerX was torn apart. I never thought racerX could break like that. It broke like a Plastic stock a-arm except it was 7075 AL. JT chassis bent also RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - DO-U-MAXX - 10-04-2004 thats what happens to strong metal parts. The more resilient they are to bending the more prone they are to snapping when hit with enough force. If that was a 6061 setup it would just look like a pretzel and probably be a real pain to get off, and he would have to cut it off in pieces. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-04-2004 makes sence, kinda like Ti RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - SixVi6-Camaro - 10-04-2004 wow.. so the suspension took most most of the hit. With all the strengthing on the chassis the Racer X took almost the whole hit. Racer X is meants to the be lightweight racer setup and not as much a super strength setup. Rich has the EXT.. that is the brute strength setup. Man that is just brutal I'd be pissed as hell if it happened to me. with the amount fo custom work and such Jim do it he should do it the american way and file a lawsuit against the guy! :p RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-04-2004 SixVi6-Camaro Wrote:he should do it the american way and file a lawsuit against the guy! :p "The Guy" was nitrolittlejoe edit: (I wanted to throw this in here.) nitrolittlejoe, I understand that accidents happen, I just put myself in Jim's place and think how i'd feel if my $$$$machine$$$ slams into the wall. Think about it, you'd be pissed too. Anyway, mistakes happen to everyone, we all move on and get over it. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - R/C Madman - 10-04-2004 Tex Wrote:I don't use failsafes. I don't know? I was hanging out by Jim's table most of the day. I did not compete but, I had my truck there (a .21 converted Maxx with a Fantom .27 on it and a full Ti roll cage.) The damage to Jim's JT is going to be somwhere near $600-$700! Tex what's your name even though I am bad at remembering them!lol RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-04-2004 Names Gabe, I had the white half/Jeep. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Technical RC - 10-04-2004 He was the guy with the orange shirt on..... :p TRC RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Michowski - 10-04-2004 wait i thought i had the orange shirt on? lol jk. We were the guys with orange shirts. Tex had the white jeep body and tech had the dual engine truck, And i had the revo that kept jumping and jumping on that long jump. Snakebite had the blue and white stripe body. There was so many more but now you can get an idea of who we all are. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - R/C Madman - 10-05-2004 I know who you are now but, no I did not talk to you Tex. Great driving Tex! I did talk to Michowski while he was doing his many many sweet jumps! I know that that was the last MJ for the year but, do you guys get together on the weekends to try and distroy your trucks as long as the weather is good? RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Michowski - 10-05-2004 ya we usually run at berwyn right off of harlem and 40th street. Its in the back of a forest preserve and has many bmx jumps and a small oval track we race on. We usually bbq there around lunch time and have a great time. During the week on wednesday or thursday we will try and all meet up at leisure hour racetrack in joliet for some track bashing. But every week we try and do something weather its during the week at leisure or saturday at berwyn. Come and join us man, its a blast, And thanks for the compliments. I see people really like me trying to break my truck RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - R/C Madman - 10-05-2004 Sounds cool! I see Tex said something about going to Joliet this weekend and I should be at the Drag racing in Lansing on the 23rd. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Tex - 10-05-2004 yeah we're going to Leisure Raceway tomorrow (wed) from about 6-10pm. This weekend I'm staying home and next weekend is the Hobby show. Next time I'll be outside to play will be Drag Races on the 23rd. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - R/C Madman - 10-05-2004 I have never been to Leisure Raceway? Is it indoors or out? I have been to there Hobby shop in Joliet/Plainfield but, not the track. RC Monster Jam ...This Sunday - Michowski - 10-05-2004 the track is actually like 5-10 minutes away from the hobby shop. It is an indoor electric and nitro track. The ventalation isnt the greatest there but it works. There website is here http://www.leisurehoursraceway.com/. And were not going tomorrow (wednesday) because there closed for the fall classic championships. Damn im glad i looked at the site. |
