Yea, I'm loving the revo. I run the 2.5r, I've only busted (so far) a shock rod, and a oneway bearing decided to do a self-destruct on me...So I'm getting a new one off the 'bay in a minute...But yeah, it's great.

t-maxx feul help - Ponch - 11-07-2005

And that's coming from someone who has or has had a(n) ;

T-Maxx(soldish)
E-Maxx(sold)
Duratrash Max St (used for making parts)
HPI Savage 25(traded for K2)
HPI RS4 3 18SS (still have)
Revo (still have)
Kyosho K2 (still have)

hey guys I was just running my t-maxx and when I start it up I do a hi speed run and then go to stop and it revs up and then idles then once it is warmed up it doesnt rev up. could it be because it is only 45 degrees out side or what?

thanks, traxxas thrasher

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-12-2005

Hey whenever im running my t-maxx in the beginning I have to warm it up or it revs up like I said but then after it is warmed up it pulls wheelies and works great but then after a fourth of a tank it wont take off as fast. so if anyone knows why this is happening, please let me know. :o

t-maxx feul help - rocco79 - 11-12-2005

Maybe a clutch problem... Assuming the motor is tuned

t-maxx feul help - Tex - 11-13-2005

sounds too lean if it's pulling wheelies then it slows down.

Richen the HSN about 1/4th turn and try it again

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-13-2005

well i had put in wd-40 and plugged in the easy starter to spin the crankshaft and it started up so I turned it off. but the next day I went to drive it and it was acting to lean like it would speed up and then slow down a lot and then build up speed like it was over the safe lean zone. and just 10 seconds of running the engine that engine was hot like I had just ran half a tank. so I richened it 1/4 of a turn and it was perfect but it stilll revs up unless I warm it up and then it wont take off fast again so should I still richen it 1/4 of a turn or not?

also it could be my clutch system but the clutch bell doesnt get stuck. so please help me if you have any idea.

thanks, traxxas thrasher

t-maxx feul help - Tex - 11-14-2005

didn't you replace the clutch shoes/spring like we spoke about on the Leisure forum? hmmm

yep, if it is still acting too lean you need to keep richening it until it's back where it should be.

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-14-2005

well I replaced the cluth shoes/spring but on my other engine I didnt think I would have to change it so when I get home from school Ill change the spring also ill richen it some more.

thanks, traxxas thrasher

t-maxx feul help - Tex - 11-14-2005

what I like to do is (this is if it's excessively lean) richen it to the point that it's slow and boggy...Then lean back out gradually from there

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-14-2005

but what about the reving up?

t-maxx feul help - Tex - 11-14-2005

LSN is too lean usually when that happens.

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-14-2005

but Ive richened it about a third of a turn and it seems the same but ill just have to wait till the leisures track opens so I can test it out and Im sure the guys there have or have had a t-maxx and can help me with that.

traxxas thrasher

t-maxx feul help - Tex - 11-15-2005

FWIW, anyone that knows how to tune can help you, not just 2.5 owners.

Some times you need to turn the needles more than you think. I've turned my LSN's 1-2 full turns at times (not all at once though)...just do small increments

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-15-2005

ok thanks well I checked out my clutch spiring and turns out that it wasnt staying all the way down and you could take it off so quickly so I changed it to a stronger spring and it is harder to take off.

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-16-2005

ok yesterday I put my pull start on it and I would start it up and then after about 2 minutes I went to start it up and it wouldnt now could that be from it being so cold or what?

thanks, traxxas thrasher

t-maxx feul help - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 11-16-2005

Cold really makes it hard to start, especially a pull starter. Use a hairdryer and warm that engine up, or bring it inside for a while.

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-16-2005

but what if the motor is warm from running will it still be hard to start?

t-maxx feul help - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 11-16-2005

That should be less of a problem. Is the engine new(er)? Sometimes a hot engine that won't start is a sign of a worn out sleeve and piston. Glow plug good?

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-16-2005

im talking about when the engine has run for about 45 secs

t-maxx feul help - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 11-16-2005

That's a pretty short time to get heat into the motor, especially if it's running rich.
Sounds funny that you can start it, but not restart it.
Again, good glow plug of the right heat range for your fuel %?

Not to suggest Plainfield is a small town, but maybe you're near Tex. Maybe he can help figure it out. Of course these days Plainfield meets Naperville, so maybe I'm closer to you than Tex Big Grin

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-16-2005

well it could be possible that the battery is too low. I have an old plug in it and I use the traxxas super duty long glow plug and 20% top fuel so im not sure.

t-maxx feul help - Tex - 11-16-2005

still sounds too lean to me...and at 45secs if it's extremely lean it will be at 300F (which ain't too bad of a temp for a 2.5..lol)

A sure sign of a over lean motor is having it start really easy at first and then once it dies (from being too lean) it will not start again easy.

turn the needles counterclockwise MORE, trust me. The only thing that will happen is it will run better or get too rich, and you can always lean it again. I would turn the HSN about a full 1/2 turn richer and that's just to start with.

t-maxx feul help - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 11-16-2005

TT, do you have a temp gun to check it when it is running?

t-maxx feul help - kevinF - 11-16-2005

no i dont i need to get one.

tex should i richen the low speed also
