F&F Tokyo Drift - joey - 09-27-2006 squirrel Wrote:That movie sucked!!! I saw it last night, and almost cried when they put the P.O.S. 4 cyl in the Mustang!!!! I respect japanese power but come on! That is a discrace to a beautiful car! i just watched the movie (DVD) and im pretty sure that engine is a rb32, which is actuall a straight 6 turbo that was used in the skylines and put into other cars if it is thats a serious engine with some mods over 1000+ horses serious. just thought i would throw that out there. F&F Tokyo Drift - maxximum_44 - 09-27-2006 Are they airing it on T.V yet? F&F Tokyo Drift - Thirdgen89GTA - 09-27-2006 Actually, its a SR20DET from a Nissan Silvia. Which is a 4cyl inline turbo car. RWD. Check out this screen cap. F&F Tokyo Drift - joey - 09-27-2006 actually heres a better pic of the egine so you can see, it is definatley a rb its the 26 not the 32 its to hard to tell from the quick glances in the movie since the sr20 is basically a rb with 2 cylinders chopped off but still an impressive little engine, but the one they put on the mustang is a skyline engine like i said you can even make out rb26 in the screen shot you posted. F&F Tokyo Drift - BJoe - 09-29-2006 From what I understand, the actual stunt cars used Ford Windsor based V-8motors, I think they tried a basic crate 351 but Millen didn't think it had enough power and by the time it was more like 430 inch and 500+hp crate motor. F&F Tokyo Drift - Ponch - 10-08-2006 Hey yeah...Anybody check out all the bonus features in the F&F 3 movie? I rented it and watched the bonus' last night, some pretty cool stuff like in Japan they could shoot film on the streets, but they could not actually close down streets so alot of the film was shot at very morning hours so that there weren't many people out. Some people may be in the film and not even know it lol. The 2nd to last big chase scene, where they are going thru the big crowd and the crowd seemingly parts like magic, that was shot here in LA. Most if not all of the drifting was real in the movie, just most of it was done by professionals. In the previous F&F movies, alot of the scenes are computer generated. F&F Tokyo Drift - get dustd - 10-08-2006 Wow... drifting is a fad and stop trying it with economy cars your going to hurt someone. These movies that come out are so rediculus. F&F Tokyo Drift - Ponch - 10-08-2006 But my ford escort is so sweet around the turns!!! F&F Tokyo Drift - Traxxas_Junkee - 11-05-2006 Just saw it, not bad. Better than I thought it would be. But the end part was pretty ghey, with the Nissan motor in the Mustang, even though it was a Ford, it doesn't deserve that.... F&F Tokyo Drift - Thirdgen89GTA - 11-05-2006 Actually, its only the 2nd movie where they went nuts with the CG. The first movie is nearly all real. The Eclipse scene in the parking lot was the Eclipse body attached to a small truck rack, so they could film the spin from outside the car. Most of the races were real footage, using camera tricks to give the illusion of speed. The Supra/Ferrari race is pretty much real, you don't get that kind of body roll without being at speed. Don't know the actual speeds but they were fast enough that a crash would have been a very bad thing. The end drag with the Charger/Supra was fake, specially the wheelie scene. Though jumping in front of the train was realistic, but fake. Its 2 shots that were imposed on each other. Basically they filmed the jump, then they did a 2nd shot where the train passes by the combined them digitally. The scene where the charger hits the semi and flips is real, they used a single pipe ramp and it really did hit hard and flip. Again they digitally imposed the Supra under the charger when its flipping though. F&F 2 is very fake. Nearly the entire first race is CG, and it looks CG too. As far as the drifting in F&F3, I think its real on the streets with some cars added digitally in after effects. They did the same in Matrix 2 on the freeway chase scene. The cars closest to the actors were added digitally to minimize risk. Of the 3, I like the first movie the most. Its got the most real footage of all 3.
