well next time we go to the track for practice can i borrow your bowties to see if I like them??

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Traxxas_Junkee - 07-04-2006

yeah

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-04-2006

Guys, it's gonna be completely different. Kevin, you're looking to get the new bowtie mt's, not the regular bowties. Kyle's are old, have less tread, and the foams are going fast.

Kevin, those are going to be the "ticket" along with (what I've seen and hear) the Boa ms'. I've tried the boas, they're ok. I would hope that the bowties have more grip to them. Also, it might be that I was geared a bit wrong too. But seriously, trying out Kyle's bowties won't do the new ones any justice.

Kyle, no offence was to be aimed towards you or your stuff in this message, just some information.

And Kyle, how can you be loaning out the tires if Travis bought them from me? Did you buy them from you or?

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - kevinF - 07-04-2006

well yes im getting the new bowties MT.....but i still will try out kyles.....i will prolly still order them anyways.

im just going to use the stock foams that come with them.....so hopefully they last long

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-05-2006

You're funny. PL stock foams suck! Get some mo RE's.

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 07-05-2006

dont use the RE's they are too stiff ur truck will bounce all over the place. use the stock whites, i have about 2 gallons on all my tires and they still feel fine. All u guys are trying different foam this and that, this is UMT or MT with all the horse power and how well these cars handle, unlesss u have ZERO foam in the tires they will still nbe good

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Mr. Tune - 07-05-2006

I've always found the PL foams a little soft for my taste. I stuffed my bowtie mt's with trinity 2 stage foams.

I own and race with both the new bowties and the boa ms. Both tires work at LH. The boas were good enough to give me the TQ in mt this past weekend. The bowties helped get me into the a main of truggy (last spot, 8th). The boas are more tempermental if you ask me. You need to stay in the groove as they don't work as well in the fluff like the bowties do, IMO.

so what are you saying???? the bowties are better outdoor or the boa's??

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-05-2006

If you can't stay on the groove that everybody's taking, then the boa's aren't happy. The bowties are more flexible.

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - kevinF - 07-05-2006

ok then.............im going to go with the bowties.

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-05-2006

I think I'm going to switch too. Now I just gotta get the boa's off my rims and foams.

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - bubbacola - 07-05-2006

Hey what you guys think of the no tubes?

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - kevinF - 07-05-2006

your talking about the yellow tubes????

I like where the tubes are but think you need to add some at the end of the back straight

cuase i rolled down the hill once and have seen people slide down it

I'm not saying he can borrow the LSP's, I said he could borrow the bow-ties....

I'm loving it because the track is more forgiving, you don't always have to land perfectly. It also helps keep the marshalls happier and more willing to do their job, because crashes and rollovers happen less now, and there's not really any jumping to get to a rolled over truck.

I do agree with traxxas thrasher though, at the back straight, where you turn right, go down a little, that next 180* right turn needs some tubing... I have to go really slow in fear of going over.

Or, just add a jump there and let 'em rip! lol

+1

tubeless for the win Big Grin

You guys seen how my CRT was due to not having full steering. I would have been SOL if there were tubes all around the track. My steering is fixed now though Smile

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-05-2006

How'd you do it?

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - RobH - 07-05-2006

I re-setup my stuff on a different model # like someone on the grid suggested. I did that and now I get full steering, without the EPA maxed out.

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-05-2006

Hmm....Okay then....Wonder why that would work?

I dont know, but it did, so I'm happy. Big Grin

Hey, found out why my truck somewhat sucked last sunday!!!

Gotta love clutch shoes that do that....

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - RobH - 07-05-2006

dang... time for some ofna pro aluminum shoes? I'll take my motor out and get a pic of the wear if you want. I've got a little less than 1/2 a gallon on them

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Ponch - 07-05-2006

Naa I'm happy on the wear factor of the shoes, I'll just pick another set of these up. The thing is, the guys at LH sold me these and told me to drill them out to fit a kyosho flywheel, which I did. But then the whole kyosho assembly didn't work so I had to get a sportwerks flywheel. So I guess there was just enough play in the shoes that they died.

July 2nd @ LHR. 66 pics. - Tex - 07-05-2006

mugen shoes on sportwerks flywheel fit good.

oh and about the tubes, I think having very little tubes like it is currently makes it harder in some sections and easier in some sections.

Overall there is alot less marshalling needed which gives the people who crash alot a big advantage over having a full tube layout. As of now they don't have tubes to get hung up on.

I think you would see longer lap times and more marshalling needing to be done with tubes which separates the drivers even more.

Tubes can be a good thing!
