north_shore_racer Wrote:ya well im not gonna be racing for a while so i wont be able to borrow a starter at the track....cuz well i wont be at the track. pullstart sounds best right now.

Am I correct that if you need to switch a non PS motor to PS you need the longer crank, the starter shaft, the backplate, the OWB, and the actual PS?? Did I miss anything?? I want to make sure I get him everything he needs...

general revo discussion - Michowski - 02-05-2006

to make a bump start engine into a pullstart you need to buy....

crankshaft with the nub at the end
pullstart
backplate
starter shaft
One Way Bearing

Buying all that stuff is easy going to exceed the cost of a starter box with charger and battery. You can probly buy 2 starter boxes for the price of converting the engine to pull start. Best way to do it is buy a non bumpstart engine from the start

general revo discussion - north_shore_racer - 02-05-2006

ya...well i got it bumpstart already...so i had no choice. freerides giving me a deal on it so i will prolly end up doing a PS.

general revo discussion - Michowski - 02-05-2006

just get a starter box. Much better then the pullstart and owb way.

general revo discussion - FreeRideFrosty - 02-05-2006

Ryan what is the cost of all of that stuff new?? Something tells me I am way underselling myself here. LoL

general revo discussion - Michowski - 02-05-2006

i know ive never seen a crank shaft for under 70. like 15-20 for pullstart and probly same for bearings. Backplate about 15 and starter shaft 10ish. Those wont be exact prices but ive seen those components for those prices before.

I'm running stock 15/38 gearing and the close ratio gears in the tranny. I'm not even hitting top speed on the straight.

I may try sticking a 14t cb I have lying around and see how that works Smile. In the old days I had to sacrifice alot of accel on run all high speed gearing, but with all the extension now and no fear of wheelies, I can finally start messing with whatever gearing I want to get peak performance.

general revo discussion - Obsessive R/C - 02-05-2006

I bought a brand new 2.5 crank off Ebay for $5...sell it for what your comfortable with. If you have no need for it you won't miss it.

general revo discussion - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 02-05-2006

Just installed and ran the Vantage CF pipe on the stock 2.5R...seems to rev up much quicker and pull harder in 2nd gear. We'll see if it makes laps any faster..

general revo discussion - FreeRideFrosty - 02-05-2006

I figured since I'm not going to ever use it again I can part with it all for about $30...

general revo discussion - Obsessive R/C - 02-05-2006

Very resonable IMO

general revo discussion - FreeRideFrosty - 02-05-2006

How much does a revo roller bring?? If I can get enough for the revo I may go UMT in the near future with my .21.....

general revo discussion - Ponch - 02-05-2006

Roller gets about $250 depending on what comes w/ it.

general revo discussion - FreeRideFrosty - 02-05-2006

and the going rate for a roller LSP is??

general revo discussion - Obsessive R/C - 02-05-2006

Depends... but I've seen them go anywhere from $200-300
(New out of box, minus motor & electronics)

general revo discussion - Obsessive R/C - 02-05-2006

About $350-$450 for average LSP roller

general revo discussion - Tex - 02-06-2006

Revo2K picked up an LSP roller yesterday at LHR for $250.

Dan with your chassis chopped up and any BB mods you did may bring your price down on what you'd get for your revo. just an FYI

I run close ratio gears in the revo, I'll switch them out for wide ratio when we start racing outside.

general revo discussion - Obsessive R/C - 02-06-2006

$250 is a deal!!

general revo discussion - FreeRideFrosty - 02-06-2006

Cool... I will leave all gearing as it is besides the 36-16 gearing change with the CB and spur...

general revo discussion - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 02-09-2006

I just had the motor out of the Revo last night. What moron designed that thing to have two star washers inside the motor mount? OMG I battled getting them back in for ten minutes. There's got to be a better way.

general revo discussion - Michowski - 02-09-2006

its a peice of cake for me. Just have everything loose and put the washers in and then tighten it all up

general revo discussion - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 02-09-2006

How did I know you would say that? Maybe it's because you have smaller fingers......and I have fatter fingers.

general revo discussion - Tex - 02-09-2006

I don't use fingers, I use needle nose pliers.

general revo discussion - destroy_my_revo_15 - 02-09-2006

does anyone kno if the os18cvrx or something like that would go in a revo? its only like $100? i kno that ppl run them in t-maxxes but idk anyone kno?

general revo discussion - Mr. Tune - 02-09-2006

Why did you remove the star washers to begin with? I hate putting those damn things in there too. Pain in the arse. Thank god I've only had to do it 3 times. Twice because of a motor mount change and once when I changed out the chassis.
