whats that little chip in between the crankcase and the flywheel? what does it do?

first body - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 04-17-2006

thats the telemetry thing...can u get that on the other side of the motor, i think it might melt. I havent done it yet but i think there is a little alum bar that u mount to the engine mounts and it fits on there??? not sure tho

first body - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 04-17-2006

oh lol duh it is in the pics, will it work on the other side

first body - joey - 04-17-2006

you might be able to do it on the other side with the flat chassis, i have to wait for two weeks before they get in lol but on the tunnel chassis the damn tunnel gets in the way so you have to mount it on the side i have it.

Taxxas thrasher, that is the spectrum telemtry chip for reading engine rpm, there is a sensor on there that will register every time and little reflective dot i put on the backside of the flywheel comes around, and give me a read out, also i have the heat sensor right below where the head attaches on the engine (no mike it wont melt, becuase if it does im sending it back to horizon lol) the reason i placed it there is becuase that is the most accurate place on the outside to take a heat measurment beside right on top of the plug. i will post some results as to how easy and accurate it performs.

Sounds like a PITA just to install lmao...

first body - joey - 04-17-2006

not really, just have to put one of the included dots on the back of your fly wheel and the sensor mounts on with you motor mounts you just have to make sure its 1/8 inch from the back of the flywheel, it was a pain on m,ine because the flywheel isnt a big as i would like but thats an easy fix, blus if you do some math and put it in the unit you can get speed in mph, but on dirt it won't be 100% becuase of tires spinning lol but should be a pretty close, you dont really need that thought but its still kinda cool, the temp sensor will be really cool though so you dont have to worry about cooking an engine becuase a pressure fitting comes lose or something becuase you will have a real time readout, the rpm readout will be cool to test different clutch setups and tires.
