No they dont mike... My Nova Bf21 is still very new but even fresh off the track it wont roll over... Even my severly overheated NR528 is difficult to roll when running in the correct temp range...

TRX 3.3 engine problems - rocco79 - 06-29-2006

Hey traxxas... Where the head bolts loose???

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 06-29-2006

thatsd what i was thinking cause thats what happened to my friend....but i dont think so.

but for now on im putting my own thread lock on

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 06-29-2006

oh shit...you know what i think they might have been. not severly loose but when i took it home they werent hard like they normally are.

but they still seemed decently tight, so i dont no.

I know how to tune and i know it couldnt have been overheated, because the temps were fine, it saounded good, and i have never fried an engine from being too lean. maybe the head bolts were loose enough to do this

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Ponch - 06-30-2006

FYI NO LOCK-TITE ON THE HEAD BOLTS. YoU WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOURSELF IF YOU DO!

That is all. lol

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 06-30-2006

what ae you talking about dude?

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Ponch - 06-30-2006

If you thread lock the head bolts then you'll end up stripping them and they're a PITA to get out when stripped.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Tex - 06-30-2006

yep, no loctite on head bolts, he's right.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 06-30-2006

ok......then ill make sure theyre real tight

TRX 3.3 engine problems - rocco79 - 06-30-2006

Actully thread-lok (blue) when heated past like 200 degrees breaks down, So techincally theres no point in using it..

Really? Wow...Well just to be safe (like if you had to tear down the motor before you drove it or something) I still wouldn't do it lol..

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 06-30-2006

roc it will break down, but those threads are so fine and crappy that the dust and junk from the threadlock ends up making the screws tough to get out unlse the engine is hot and then u strip the heads.......I did it about 4 times as a NOOB hahaahaa

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Tex - 06-30-2006

I use loctite on my carb cinch nut and my backplate.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - rocco79 - 06-30-2006

True true.... The aluminum does strip easy , and then you need a new block or a tap kit!

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 06-30-2006

same here tex.....my carb nut always strips out after taking it off and putting it on a few times

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Tex - 06-30-2006

mine doesn't strip........

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 06-30-2006

well i meant I also put lock tite on my carb nut

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 07-05-2006

you know what I just thought of somethin.

can it cause the piston to look like that if you dont run it with an exhaust header???

YES, there was an o.s. header, but i didnt have a seal so i could put my finger on the exhaust tip and it wouldnt really do anything.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Mr. Tune - 07-05-2006

You weren't running an exhaust gasket? That right there will make you run very lean. You know what running way too lean does? It ruins you motor, lol.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Ponch - 07-05-2006

Hey, the mystery is solved! WTF were you thinking running w/o a gasket!?!??!!?

If you would have asked, I had one spare on me lol...

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Tex - 07-05-2006

young'n mistake........We all do dumb stuff sometimes, just more when we are younger...lol

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 07-05-2006

lol.............ok i ran it w/o the gasket at my house for 1 tank......the guy at LH thought it came with one so didntlet me know that it didnt come with one.

thats prolly what caused the piston to end up like that, then I put a gasket on and by then the damage was allready done and then the would explain why i was blowing glow plugs at a good tune.....

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 07-06-2006

now lets just hope traxxas is forgiving and fixes it for free..............so far it looks like they going to fix it cause they havent called me yet and I sent it out FRIDAY....---6 DAYS AGO.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - Ponch - 07-06-2006

They'll probably be like- "It looks as if the motor were run very lean for a decent amount of time. This is not a manufacturer defect, and we cannot replace the motor free of charge. What we can do, is, offer you a deal. You can get a new Traxxas 3.3 Motor, for only $105 shipped to you."

That's about what they said to me when I broke the case, except I changed the wording to fit the situation...

If you want to find out what's up quicker, all you have to do is call 1-800-TRAXXAS and wait till you hear the options and I think th....

Oh lol I just called that # and it came up w/ some porno chat thing LoL....

So mabye call 800-Traxxas No way! That # does it too!!!! lol!

Ok well find out traxxas' number, and then eventually there will be an option about checking on the status of an item sent in or somthing. Do that and then you talk to a person, and they ask your name and zip code etc and then they'll let you know what's up.

TRX 3.3 engine problems - kevinF - 07-06-2006

first of all its 1-888-traxxas not 1-800-traxxas..........lol

well im not going to call them cause ill be patient.

well if they call me them that means they arent gonig to fix it for free.....but if they just ship it to me then they prolly just fixed it for me for free or they gave me a deal
