Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - PoPRC - 11-15-2005 This engine definately has some new stuff going on. From what I've heard it will be offered in several sizes. I wonder if it will be ROAR legal? http://www.teamorion.com/faq/wasp_rev.asp Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - Tex - 11-15-2005 looks like they dumped alot of cash in R&D, that's awesome. I wonder how much better of a motor 'if' it's better at all. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - rocco79 - 11-15-2005 Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ... WOW! If they put as much effort into the engine as they did that advertisment it might be pretty cool. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - FreeRideFrosty - 11-15-2005 I wonder if it will be more of a finicky race motor or an all around motor like the TM or even a bit more towards the v-spec. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - rocco79 - 11-15-2005 I think that some of the things that they hit on in that movie are already things you can find in "better " rc engines. Like the crank being shaped better for the air to flow in smoother... Like the putty used in eb modded engines or some novarossis( and other higher end engines. Or how when the fuel mix exits the crank , I think more and more engines have that butterflying in the crank to spin the fuel out and help atomize it. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - FreeRideFrosty - 11-15-2005 makes me wonder how it will be to tune... things always look good on paper. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - rocco79 - 11-15-2005 Guess will have to wait and see. . . I honestly dont think it will be as great as it seems... Who knows though i could be wrong. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - FreeRideFrosty - 11-15-2005 I am hoping. Their motors have always seemed to be hit or miss... I hope this isn't just an expensive hit or miss case. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - Tex - 11-15-2005 From what I've seen the wasp motors have been awesome in the .12 size. anything above that have been pretty iffy IMO. This is all based off what I have seen though, I've never owned any wasp motors Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - rocco79 - 11-15-2005 Me neither . But there wasp .28 was an utter diaster. People will think of that when they here Orion Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - FreeRideFrosty - 11-15-2005 absolutely... I doubt I would ever put a .12 in a revo either. Not with the os. 18 as an option. hopefully this will give it a run for its money though... Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - Obsessive R/C - 11-22-2005 At first glance it seems like a similar theory that a filled crank in a mod motor uses to direct fuel flow. Just my .02 Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - PoPRC - 11-23-2005 Seems like a sound .02 obsessive. There is speculation as to whether there will be a .12 off-road version. To me it seems like they took everything that has been done to engines with mods and made one that wouldnt benefit from mods because its already been done, except it seems to dish the piston head. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - BottledBeast - 11-23-2005 that motor will be real nice if they put the same amount of effort in the motor as the advertisment.. People will think of that when they here Orion Rocco, I have a good friend that has a Wasp 28 in his Savage, and has not had an opportunity to really run it yet. The one time he tried it kept overheating and the headscrews came loose. What issues are you familiar with regading the Wasp 28? Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - nitrosmoker - 11-30-2005 well I am glad you guys are talking about the wasp, I was lookiing to get an .18 for my NTC3, bad choice? Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - Tex - 11-30-2005 are you talking about one of the wasp.18's that are out now? or these new ones? if it's the older one don't even waste your time. Every one I've seen had tuning probs. Just spend the $99 on the OS CVRX .18...........well that's my opinion anyway...lol Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - SixVi6-Camaro - 11-30-2005 Wasp engines get a thumbs down from me too. I've never seen one run reliably. Neat ideas but as was said many of the top engines out there have epoxy balanced cranks with fill in the crank to point the air smootly into the engine. The other stuff sounds like a gimmick though. Come on slots on the crank holding fuel air and pushing them through a port in the case and into the rear bearing. no way I see that really working. reminds me though Orion did this same thing with their brushed electric motors.. the Revolution series. They had a cool vid and everyhitng too but in the end they didn't have much to offer over the standard endbell motors. Team Orion Wasp Rev CRF - The Power of Science - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 11-30-2005 I dont like the idea of the hole expanding sleeve, just seems liek a problem waiting to happen |
