Suggest me a Nitro - YoungPilot1 - 01-26-2006 Howdy All! I’m the newest noob to the forums and have a question about getting started in RC. Basically, I’d like to know what you guys think is the best nitro RC (used or new) for around 150 bucks. I’m tight on money from flying, hence the low expenditures. I’d like to get a start in nitro cars and what a better place to start then these forums! Size doesnt matter, in this instance, and nor does it's utility, on road or off. Thanks! Suggest me a Nitro - Ponch - 01-26-2006 Hm....$150...You could easily get into minis....Used off of ebay...Some things to search for on ebay; Mini-t rc18t revo savage 4-tec tc3 t4 t3 stampede Suggest me a Nitro - FreeRideFrosty - 01-26-2006 Welcome man. For that that amount of money I would have to say keep your eyes out for a used RC10GT. Theyare great first nitro's, fairly durable, can be driven on-road but were made for off-road, and can be upgraded a lot when the time comes. They are fun on a track or in the backyard and because the are rear wheel drive they help teach you to really controll the car. Good luck!! Suggest me a Nitro - FreeRideFrosty - 01-26-2006 And matt a revo and savage as well as any T4 or TC4 will be out of the price range. Plus the T4 is electric. Stick to a RC10GT, or Losi XXX-NT. Suggest me a Nitro - Traxxas_Junkee - 01-26-2006 yeah id say rc10gt, i may have a tmaxx coming that i could sell to u pretty cheap, ill let you know if i get it. Suggest me a Nitro - FreeRideFrosty - 01-26-2006 No offense traxxas junkee but if he wants to get in cheap I would stay away from the maxx. Even if you can get one cheap they turn into a money pit the second you start them up... Suggest me a Nitro - Traxxas_Junkee - 01-26-2006 lol, ive had mine for about 6 months, the only thing ive broke were alot spurs, and a few bulk heads, but then again the whole thing is RPM, but my dad has a stock one, its broken alot more than mine. Suggest me a Nitro - north_shore_racer - 01-26-2006 i have some stock parts for a maxx i might give him hes a good friend of mine ive been trying to get into RC more. so i offered that but that might be too expensive for him. the stadium trucks are a better idea. Suggest me a Nitro - bandit - 01-26-2006 Yes they RC10T4 SE RTR is $230, and they are near Team Truck status, but still tough as nails. And you could find a used one on eBay for under $100. I have ahd 2 RC10T4(sold my first one, for some x-mas money), and just bought another T4 Team Truck Kit. They are great for backyard bashing and they are great on the track. Of course I'm a little bias. But a cheap nitro yeah, A used RC10GT is a great choice as well. I know many owners and they love their GT's. Of again it is Associated so I'm bias. Suggest me a Nitro - FreeRideFrosty - 01-26-2006 T4 is electric... he wants nitro... Suggest me a Nitro - YoungPilot1 - 01-27-2006 Thanks guys for all the help! I'm looking into used RC10T4's, Revos and a TMax. Judging by the research I've done, a maxx might be a lil too expensive when I bust something, so I'm gonna try to stick to the other suggestions. e-bay has a plethora of these puppies! Suggest me a Nitro - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 01-27-2006 Your last post looks like you have setlled on the idea of off-road. I was going to suggest the HPI RS4 touring car as a fun, cheap, durable, simple parking lot runner. If you get into off-road, before long you will be wanting to race and that costs more and more all the time. I long for the blissful days of simple parking lot racing the sedans, where entry was free and steering servos are cheap. Just not as exciting as off road truck racing. BTW, I will have a RTR HPI RS4 for sale soon, in your price range. ps: touring cars tires are cheap compared to trucks!!! Suggest me a Nitro - RCDad - 01-27-2006 I disagree, I think on-road racing is very exciting. Suggest me a Nitro - Biodragen - 01-27-2006 Hey bottom line All classes are exciting Suggest me a Nitro - Biodragen - 01-27-2006 WELCOME to the CHITOWN RC FUN R US GROUP Suggest me a Nitro - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 01-27-2006 RCDad Wrote:I disagree, I think on-road racing is very exciting. I meant parking lot bashing with family....fun racing..not organized racing. I haven't run on-road at a track, but know I will this summer at LHR! I suspect it will be just as intense as dirt. Suggest me a Nitro - slim - 01-27-2006 150 bux is gonna be tough. you MIGHT get a truck possibly with a motor. but thats not even scratching the surface. 300 might get you what you need to get it going. Suggest me a Nitro - FreeRideFrosty - 01-27-2006 I think it was John that picked up a RC10GT at the track RTR minus radio and 1 servo for $80 I think. For the extra $70 you can easily get a low-end radio and servo to get it going. It is possible to get into nitro with $150... just takes some hunting and it will be impossible to keep it at that price... Suggest me a Nitro - YoungPilot1 - 01-28-2006 Yea the prices keep jumpin around on me, I think I'll end up saving another hundred or so if I'm looking into anything decent; but I haven't given up on the cheap ones! lol Suggest me a Nitro - destroy_my_revo_15 - 01-28-2006 yea i actually picked up a used GT for $60 w/o 1 servo and tx/rx. it had loads of power but i quickly decided that i didnt like st's and i sold it |
