This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 http://www.hobbieguyrc.com/shop/cart.php?target=product&product_id=18214&category_id=863 I was wondering if this was a good engine for a replacement for the stock 2.5 t-maxx. I know I would need to buy the engine mounts for it to work. here is another page with info on it http://www.ofna.com/eng-picco-26max.html This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - Traxxas_Junkee - 02-13-2006 what do u have for drivetrain? This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 everything on my t-maxx 2.5 is stock. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - UE-Maxx - 02-13-2006 You would need to get cvd's, probably new diffs, and your tranny might go. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 so then it is false when they say you don't need any modifications except for the mount? This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - maxximum_44 - 02-13-2006 mikecooper Wrote:so then it is false when they say you don't need any modifications except for the mount? No...it's not false, you can just drop it in there and let her rip. Although given the power of that mill you might chew your drivetrain to shreds. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 ok thanks, what drivetrain would you recommend then? sorry I don't know what is good and not with these. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - UE-Maxx - 02-13-2006 What's your budget? This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 not very pricey, just what will do what i need, but lowest price. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - Traxxas_Junkee - 02-13-2006 then you should go with some MIP CVDs they are in the middle price range and middle quality, as for diffs, IDK This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 ok thanks This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - UE-Maxx - 02-13-2006 MIP's will work for outer cvd's, but I heard they are terrible for center cvd's. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-13-2006 Mike it will be pricey to get a maxx to hold that power. I know there was a modded version of that motor on here a while back... they are supposed to rip but will destroy the stock drivetrain. (And don't land on power... ever. LoL) This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - Biodragen - 02-13-2006 FWIW----I have heard there was issues with the Picco 26. I hear more good things on the Picco 27 I would go with the 27 over the 26. Also you can get the 27 cheaper at tower hobbies. There is a guy I will be with on Sunday that runs the Picco 27 in his ride. It is the maxx with a buggy body and wing on it---some of you may have seen him. Astro will be there two with us. See it for yourself---the maxx does real nice with it in there. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-13-2006 Is there a .27 midblock?? I thought that was only a BB conversion but I can be wrong... This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - firesprink281 - 02-13-2006 the .26 is a drop in. if he goes with the .27 he will need a convertion kit. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-13-2006 That is what I thought... that is also the reason the .27 is more reliable... it is a true BB while the .26 is a bored out midblock... This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 I guess I will stick with the stock motor then until I can afford to do a BB conversion, which will be a while, and make all the necessary changes to run it. or maybe I will just buy some kind of drop-in .18 for not, I am not sure. I kmow NitroN had issues with his 26---he kept blowing it or something so they eventually had it and decised to send him the 27 in it's place. This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-13-2006 Do a drop-in .18 at most on the maxx. They are even more of a money pit when you decide to go BB. You will be looking at a grand before you know it... This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - UE-Maxx - 02-13-2006 FreeRideJunkie Wrote:Do a drop-in .18 at most on the maxx. If you get the right stuff This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - FreeRideFrosty - 02-13-2006 Either way... if you get the wrong stuff *cough* integy *cough* you will still be looking at over a grand by the time you replace them a few times... This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 ok I will do a .18 drop-in then, and leave it at that This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - maxximum_44 - 02-13-2006 Dude, quick & easy (cheap too) O.S .18 Cvrx $99.99. Someone here will know which one fits the 2.5 for sure! This a good replacement engine for stock t-maxx 2.5 - mikecooper - 02-13-2006 awesome, someone who knows which version, can you tell me please, so I can get that motor? |
