never seen this high kv motor before, has got to be sick. was thinking about getting it for my Xray just for playing with it. There is no way you could control that thing.

I am running 8.4v with my 5.4kv now, that thing would run over 77k RPM  Looks enticing Smile

im running a comp-x with 11.1v lipos, and its hard to control when those tires turn into pizza cutters. i would be scared to push that motor.

Anybody think of taping mini tires yet?

new brushless? - Tex - 06-02-2006

Good idea Revo2K, I bet that would help if the tape stayed put. I'm thinking there are so many RPMs available that the tape would come off the tires.

Get the gorilla glue tape and just cut it into thinner strips. That stuff WILL stay put. Smile

Foam tires....

new brushless? - salsaking - 06-02-2006

think I am going to order that motor just for kicks, but I have a traction concern even now. Wonder how I can get the M18MT to hook up better. Maybe its time for some pin style tires. I am sure to give them a little stretch at that kinda RPM. Think its about time to fab up a 12v batt too, too bad I only have Nimh....kinda heavy but comon: 110,400RPM it should move somewhere Smile

oh yeah...great idea

John (six) put them on his RC18T, I believe, and made it work.

xray makes adapters for 12mm hex's and foam's. Easy nuff

new brushless? - Ponch - 06-02-2006

That and also, what about adding weight to make it more planted to the ground? Mabye a dollar in quarters up front and in rear?

new brushless? - Racin' Ranger1 - 06-02-2006

n e one see my sig look at what A random Taco is running in his mini t

new brushless? - squirrel - 06-02-2006

That thing has to rip!!!! I couldn't keep the front wheels on the ground on my mini-t with the Trinity motor and a cheap 6 cell pack!!! I can only imagine a 9200kv brushless motor in one!!

new brushless? - rusty savage - 06-02-2006

man 6000kv is crazy with some voltage behind it but 9200!!!!!!!! holey jebus! some one needs to buy it and video how many things blow up!! diffs, tires, batts, drive shafts!!!!!!!

i have the x-ray adapters on the nt 18t. x-ray has there own style wheele hexes. they wont work on other trucks. but another company makes the adapters for mini-t, 18t, and the mini lst.

which wheels are you using fire? I just ordered the hex adapters, still thinking about that motor yet Smile

I would not get that motor.. yeah its a silly high KV rating but it will be to high and well out of where the motor needs to be to run effeciently. It will have more top end than a lower Kv motor but it will also generate a TON more heat and have a TON less runtime. You would be much better off going with a lower KV rated motor and putting more voltage into it.

I had an 8000kv motor in my mamba for a week and Hated it after running the 5400K for months. running on 6 cell NIMh the 8K was was faster on the top end with the same gearing as a 5400 but it got half the runtime and ran much hotter than the 5400 ever did. In fact it would hover around 200deg constantly so I put a smaller pinion on there which kept the temps down but also really killed any speed increase and the runtime was still much less than the 20-30 min runs I got with the 5400K.

Currently.. hehe.. I pulled the trigger and picked up a duratrax Ice and a 3s (11.1v) LiPo on my 5400K Mamba. Its way too fast.. soo fast with no aceleration limiting set on the controller it just instantly shreads he ring and pinion gears with one full throttle pull while running 1/10 foams on the pavement.

1/10 foams work great on RC18t's. I have adapters on mine from Driven Productions..

here is a link to my Ft Rc18t buildup wiht pics of the adapters ane all the mods I did to mine.
