what to expect from t maxx - sperry007 - 09-22-2006

hi guys! been a while since i last posted but i wanted to hear some expert advice on what to expect from a tmax. you see my son got himself a stupid bb gun:mad: which i know would appeal to some, but for me it doesn't and besides it's illegal here in schaumburg. so what i did was i got him a tmax off ebay. i figured that i will have to divert his interest to r/c since he is not paying for his truck. i hear that tmax is a good truck but well i run a savage so i am going to a real stranger to this other toy. any thoughts?

The T-Maxx is a great truck to get into the hobby with...fairly durable (within reason) and easy to wrench on. They can be money pits if you let them, but with a few select upgrades they are a blast.

I would reccomend RPM arms all around and maybe RPM axel carriers, and thats about it.

Personally, I would have gone with a savage. Way stronger out of the box, if a bit harder to work on.

Any RC, well cared for, is a good RC. Don't ask too much of it, and you will enjoy it very much. Encourage the son to learn how to operate it, and manitain it, and you will have a common interest for years to come.

We got our trucks based on the TMaxx we saw when buying an onroad car. I still think the Maxx is a neat truck and has tons of fun potential.

Very true. I take care of mine and it still always breaks

T-maxx's, like stated, are money pits for the most part. They benefit so much from every needed upgrade (if your intended on bashing the truck pretty good). All those upgrades cost $$. For a great T-maxx, you might as well build one from the ground up, screw kit and all.
Otherwise if you take it easy, keep it clean, and just have fun with it....it's great in stock trim!!

If you don't do large jumps or hit any inanimate objects, the maxx will be ok. It would be better if you install an FOC, this removes the lurching off the line.

For large jumps, the t-maxx doesn't live long. For big engines, it doesn't live long.
