So..... being in college, with not a lot of disposible income, would it be wise to buy a $100 raffle ticket (only 500 to be sold, all funds going to the surviving parents of a cancer victim) for a 9 second, fully build Mustang??

Playing the odds..... - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-25-2006

Don't forget, you pay income taxes on the value of the car, if you win.

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-25-2006

Really?? Even if it through a private organization like that?? I remembered that I have a $100 gift credit card that I haven't used yet..... LoL

Playing the odds..... - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-25-2006

Only if they ask you for some ID when you take delivery, like transferring the title.....

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-25-2006

I see..... well if I were to win, the cost of those taxes would be nothing compared to the money and work that has gone into the car. LoL 1 in 500 isn't great, but it isn't bad I don't think. Worst case scenerio is you donate $100 to help pay for his medical bills.

Playing the odds..... - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-25-2006

Good luck...after all, somebody will win it, why not you?

Playing the odds..... - firesprink281 - 09-25-2006

you going to be able to fuel that thing? whet does it get? 6-8 mpg?

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-25-2006

If that. LoL Definitely not a daily driver.....

Playing the odds..... - Tex - 09-25-2006

that's a pretty good way to sell your car for $50,000. Hold a raffle

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-25-2006

Not Exactly........

From ChiTownRacing:

Hey guys, for those of you that don't know me, I work at Stealy Performance Machine in East Moline. In November of 04 Jeff Stealy was approached to help with a car for a great kid by the name of Jacob Littrell. Jacob had a vision for his Mustang, but the reality was that he was losing a battle with cancer. All he really wanted was to race his Mustang. As with most projects, this one snowballed. They actually ended up with a different body that was much more rust free. The resulting car is a work of art, a beautiful racecar with the best of everything. Over 30,000 dollars worth of parts was donated by companies with big hearts. Countless hours of time was donated by many people, including many long hours by Jeff.

In March of 2005 Jacob passed away, just weeks before the cars completion. The car is now finished and has made a handful of trips down the quarter mile. To date the car has ran 9.9 @ 134 mph WITHOUT the nitrous. The kit is setup to spray an additional 200 horsepower as it sits. This is a top notch, 9.2x drag car on the spray.

The car is being raffled off right now and you can buy tickets at Stealy Performance Machine or Winners Circle Speed and custom, both in East Moline, IL Otherwise you can contact me on here and we can talk about sending a ticket through the mail. Otherwise feel free to call the shop at 309-792-3333. The car is coming out in MM&FF and I have already been sending tickets all over the country. Tickets cost $100 each, but only 500 will be sold, so the odds of winning this car are great. We have sold about 1/3 of them and the car will be raffled when they are all sold. All proceeds from the raffle are going to Jacobs parents to pay for his medical bills.

A little more info on the car:
1985 Mustang Notchback
369 Windsor engine
630 engine dyno horsepower without spray
Coated CP Pistons
Scat 4340 Crank and rods
All Calico coated bearings
M2 CNC ported Brodix Track 1 Cylinder heads
Comp Solid Roller .700 lift cam
Victor Intake by Wilson Manifolds, Demon Carb
Dual -8 Fuel systems, 1 nitrous- 1 motor
Built C4 reverse manual trans w/ TSI 8" converter
Full cage and custom chassis work.
Qa1 full front suspension
Granatelli rear <--- 1.38 60' on motor!!
Full painless wiring by Wires By Wade

There is over 50,000 dollars worth of work and parts in this state of the art race car!

Playing the odds..... - Racin' Ranger1 - 09-25-2006

if i hade the money i would. and if you dont win its not like the money is going to waste or something its going for a good cause

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-25-2006

That is my theory. I am going to call the shop tomorrow probably....

Playing the odds..... - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 09-25-2006

What happens if they never sell all of the tickets?

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-25-2006

Then I donated $100 to a good cause. I can guarantee that they will sell all of those tickets though. That is a very well built car by a very reputable shop. It would cost easily $40 - $50k if not more to rebuild it as is including all parts and labor. It is not too far from street legal (emissions, noise, tires) and will run 9.9 on motor and quite a bit lower on spray. On the racing forum people are all over it.

Playing the odds..... - AddictedtoNITRO - 09-25-2006

thats a super nice car for a great cause. Even if you don't win I would be happy to being able to help someone out. it's an easy 50K in that car. I've been around mustangs my whole life and that is a nice quality build.

Playing the odds..... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 09-25-2006

doesnt look like a 9 second car to me lol

Playing the odds..... - TmaxxCrap - 09-25-2006

9 seconds i dont think so

I met my dads car can beat that car in a race (not kidding) his is a real 9 second car

Do it thought But if uoi win sell the mustang because its a mustang so it sucks lol

Playing the odds..... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 09-25-2006

maybe mid 10's lol not even a big block

Playing the odds..... - Hoobajoob - 09-25-2006

ill let you know in a few weeks im thinking about buying a ticket.

Playing the odds..... - Koz's-Mugen - 09-25-2006

haha dan they dont realize how they roll on CTR with cars pullin the tires on the street!

anyways im thinking about a ticket or two also on this dan

Got the exhaust for the mazda today

Playing the odds..... - FreeRideFrosty - 09-26-2006

Until they run with CTR they have no idea. I have never seen a car pull tire on the street like those guys do. With that rear end and cam, on the proper tune, and a good driver, I believe 9's. It's putting out over 600 HP. Enough to get down like crazy, but not so much that it is uncontrollable out of the hole. I would love to see it on the spray. That thing is one nasty stang. And czech you race little cars...... how much time have you spent around big cars to call that mid 10's?

Ian I could not even imagine winning that thing..... I am getting at least one ticket, maybe two if I talk to the parents. LoL

I used to hate mustangs, but they really grew on me. If I ever won it, I would keep it. It's an amazing car with a cool story behind it. I could always build another car down the line. (I plan on it anyway.) And yes, there are a lot of cars that could beat it, but what is your dad running?? Remember that this is a small block and running high 9's with no adder. On spray it should be low 9's. If your dad is running a big block with a blower and spray it is hardly a fair race. I would however be willing to bet that you get a small block to hook better on the street than a big block.

And Czech..... small block has nothing to do with it. I have seen many big blocks get put in place by a well built small block.

Playing the odds..... - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 09-26-2006

ive been around big cars all my life pud, my uncle drag raced for like 25 yrs

why yeah my dads car cant hook on the street with slicks or anything we've tired it wont. No nitrous No blower only a bigblock with about 700 horse lol
But my dads didnt build the motor himself he just got it off a trade because i wanted a bigblock for a while

Old, pic [Image: HPIM0088.jpg] doesnt have scoop and more

Ahh crap my bros old mustang is in that pic

Playing the odds..... - squirrel - 09-26-2006

You guys really think small blocks aren't that fast? I'm hate to do it but I'm actually gonna defend ricers here! lol 4 cyl cars with the proper amount of money can be 9 second street legal cars. Are those not small blocks? Ok they just have small motors! But you can kinda get the point. As for that motor you guys do not know your history then, The windsor is an incredible motor!!! I know people that have traded their Chevy big blocks for that ford small block!!! Same thing with a 350, You can get more revs out of them and therefore have a longer torque curve. Same thing with r/c motors, you want more revs so you don't stop pulling down the straight.

Also did you guys factor in the gearing of the trans and diff? That has a lot to do with it. And the reduced weight. There are a 100 things you can do to a car to make it go fast!

Sorry for the poor quality, this is the car I've been helping with lately. 67 Chevy Camaro, 502, 8:71 supercharger, dual holley carbs, 200 shot NOS kit, Mickey Tompson. Anybody wanna bet on what this car will run? Has yet to see the track cause the owner is to scared to break it, and he won't let me drive it.
