Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Obsessive R/C - 12-10-2006 I know there are a few of the local guys who have run, or are currently running my paintwork on thier bodies. I was curious as to general durability issues, if any, that you have seemed to notice. There are several different styles of work out there with different tecniques as far as paint materials and backing processes. If you could please advise me of any issues.. paint flaking, score lines cracking, etc. or provide your general comments, I would appreciate it. We all know that these bodies are raced, bashed and abused in some way or another and certain amounts of damage are normal. In an effort to provide a quality product, I would like to hear back from Obsessed F/X clients in particular. Thanks, ORC Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Sh1nn3r - 12-10-2006 I used mine at the pro series, i had some paint chip away but very minor stuff. Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Obsessive R/C - 12-10-2006 Thats good to hear Chris. I know the Majestic body I got back from Tex was run hard and it looked great...only a minor crack at a score line w/ no peeling paint. I'm sure he will comment the condition of the other shells he ran. Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - MX_KEVIN - 12-10-2006 Mine still look great, well except I thought it would be a good idea to clean the outside of the mayhem with carb cleaner :o: Live and learn...No peeling just some rub off from the shock towers(on mugen), mounting holes, and exaust... Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Casketman - 12-10-2006 I dont have a body, but my mugen has the same problem. Maybe trim down the shock mounting screws? Cause they are trying to poke out of the body. But I would like to get a body made up sometime. Just have to many as it is right now Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Obsessive R/C - 12-10-2006 MX Kevin...is the Tru fire body holding up well?? (paintwise) Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Sh1nn3r - 12-10-2006 I dont think the quality of the paint can get much better, i could be wrong but im happy. (paintwise)Paintwise, dont think it could be better...The plastic did crack in that front nose section but the paint didnt. Some fuel got under there and distorted the paint at the crack... I think the paint is holding the body together :p: Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Stahoo - 12-10-2006 Wow, an effort put forth for continuous improvement. I'm impressed. Way to go Jerry! I'll let you know once I start running mine. I'm still beating up on my starter bodies but I'll be getting to the one's you're painting real soon. Kevin Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Tex - 12-11-2006 The process you do currently makes the paint hold up very well... I haven't had issues as far as paint peeling or flaking off... Of course anything that constantly rubs the inside of a body will rub the paint off in that spot, that's a given...so that happens (of course) The only thing I could think of to add a nice finishing touch is to add a strip of metal tape on bodies that bulge out on the side to accomodate exhaust pipes. Truggies and GT's mainly. This (again) is not your fault because it's a case of heat/rubbing going on but it would be a nice touch. Only thing is I have no idea if there are any ill effects to adding metal tape like that. For instance someone tries to peel it off and it takes all the paint off with it. Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 12-11-2006 i think that is something that really should be left up to the customer to, along with shoe gooing around body mount holes or whatever else you like to do, if some guy doesnt want the tape he may pull it off and then be pissed when the paint comes up Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 12-11-2006 As a painter I would do what ever the client is willing to pay for. If he wants to pay for the extras, I'd do them. Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - slim - 12-11-2006 if i paid for a paint job... and i used to...id expect it to be at least backed some how, to prevent handling scratches that may happen. the crystal clear is awesome for both fuel and wear with minimal weight. cust can run it as is, i do, and then can choose to do any extra long term mods. Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - DAVEC-NITRO-RS4 - 12-11-2006 Agreed. Clear coat is standard practice. Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Tex - 12-11-2006 I agree as well, some kind of backer is nice.....the metal tape I really had to think of stuff to add....I say continue with your normal process Jerry, it's great Durability feedback /Obsessed F/X paint - Obsessive R/C - 12-11-2006 Thanks...I just wanted to see how they seem to be holding up. Like I said, the Majestic bod looked great asdie from the usual scrathces & scuffs. I didn't notice any fuel related isses either. I think will keep with my current backing process as it seems to be working. |
