Track experience and couple questions.... - moliver - 12-30-2006 First off let me tell you I am slightly slow....the short bus dropped me off at the track. Thanks to John with the new 8ight for helping me out, I don't know if he is on here but he was a great help. Its his help that keeps new guys coming back, and this in turn keeps tracks open. First thing I learned is that the steering on the Spectrum doesn't come out of the box at its max extension...it goes to 125. Wish I would have known that at the track. Second thing....set up the brakes so they are loose, I had mine a little too tight so the front was applied whenever i let off the gas. This lead to a terrible push...along with lesson one it really sucked. Now for the question: What kinda thread loc do you guys use? More importantly how do you break it when you have to remove a fastener? I busted out the propane torch to heat a few up...but ended up drilling out one of the engine mtg bolts! See you at the track next week...hopefully with a 7 that turns! Track experience and couple questions.... - Ponch - 12-30-2006 I'm guessing you have the 8ight RTR? With the steering epa, make sure that with that 125 setting, it isn't overworking your servo. Mine around 115 and 125, left/right. 8ights don't need much brake, at least on this layout, I've found. I only use mine once, that's on the left turn just before the staggered triples. I use Team Associated blue thread lock. Seems to work well. I just turn my hex driver and it comes loose with some force, lol. Good drivers are key, I picked up a set of Dynamite US drivers today, one 3 pack for $20, one single for $6 (I think) and that covers the whole buggy. I think my steering epa's are only about 70 before you can start hearing the servo overwork itself. Nope, I stripped a couple screws and need to rebuild the clutch...its kinda funky. I will be out to practice next Sat, then when I can make it around the track in a presentable manner I will RACE!! Track experience and couple questions.... - Mr. Tune - 12-30-2006 I use blue loctite. Doesn't require heat to remove screws. Just make sure you have good tools and the screws heads aren't worn when you tighten stuff. That way it won't be a problem when they gotta come out. |
