Guys let me know what you think of my CT-5 Sleeper. I shoehorned a
PICCO P3 .28 BB in a 1/10th scale tourer. Still getting it dialed but so far OMG!! I cant find enough asphalt to wind it out. It disappears in the blink of an eye. The wife says it looks like an engine with wheels bolted to it!! LOL. Check it out. Any suggestions to make it better are welcome.

That's cool!

Thanks. Once I sarted looking at the engine when I pulled it(Stock is a .15) I realized that they built it off of a big block. So I had to see if the .28 would fit. Actually pretty much dropped right in! Now I need to figure out how to get the power to the ground. I dont know much about onraod tires though. I think I would smoke foams in minutes. Do they make drag slicks for the rear? Hmmm gonna have to look. One thing for sure I'm kinda hooked on this little animal.

Holy Melted Rubber Batman!

Is that thing shaft drive or belt drive? If its belt drive I'd buy a few spare belts right now. Its going to snap those very soon under that much torque.

BTW, WHERES the video.

LOL! You will be shooting the video this Sunday. I have one spare set of belts. I need to look at changing the gearing if possible. I cant believe that pipe and air cleaner all fit! I love the way the Polished head just peaks out over the body.:joy:

you should start taking people in their civics with that thing.

I'm trying to figure out what tires to get that will help get the power to the ground but I don't know much about onroad tire setups. Anyone have any ideas?

Venom makes tires called Magnetix (or spelled something like that) that are heavily interior ribbed and don't use foam inserts. They are hard as nails but would prolly work on hot pavement or with proper traction additive.

Face it matt, no matter what tires you use you are going to have problems putting the power down. Gearing it up would probably help as it will reduce the available torque at idle. Also either heavy shoes with normal 1.0mm springs, or regular shoes with .9mm springs would let the engine engage at a lower RPM and make it slightly easier to drive.

But no matter what you do its going to smoke tires all day long with that engine. Its like sticking a Top Fuel dragster engine into a F1 car.

Matt your new name is Overboard. That thing is so overboard that its like using a nuke to kill a house fly!

What can I say? Big is good? Bigger is better. I found a set of HPI slicks that are 2.2 size. I need to figure out what wheels to put them on. They are wider than 26mm wheels by about 1/2" But have the height of a 2.2. Found them in a hobby shop in NC but they didn't know what wheels they would fit on. Any ideas?

CT-5 Sleeper Check it out!! - Meatwad - 03-30-2007

prolly these
go to hpi's website and go to wheels and go to supersize

CT-5 Sleeper Check it out!! - slaytanic - 04-01-2007

Thanks Meatwad! I'll prolly pick up set. I just about smoked the stockers today.

I just want to say that with that GIANT ass polished cooling head its not a sleeper. People will take one look at it and go....

I run the hpi 2.2 wheels and their slicks on my nitro 4-tec they HOOK!!!! I can be going full speed and turn my wheels and the car just sticks to the ground even on cold days!!!! I highly reccomend them tires/wheels
