Looking for New Blood - chicagokenji - 07-04-2007

Strictly RC in Norridge runs parking lot races on Sundays in the afternoon. We have about 10 people regularly showing up with sometimes a dozen or 15. If we had some RTR 1/14th scale vehicles available and a person could show up drop a car down and join the races do you think we'd get some of you nitro guys to show up for some low key fun asphalt racing?

We're just looking to get some more people to show up because it's always more fun with more racers.

I see from the website that there are 1/18 scale indoor races. What scale is run outdoor?

Last week we had these vehicles in order of the amount:

nine 1/10th scale electric sedans

Four Sportwerk Recoils

Two Xray M18's

one AE RC12

We'll run any class anyone wants if there's enough to create a class. We've classed them like this last week:

1/10th scale A
1/10th scale B
Smaller Scale

Next week if the same people show up we're going to separate the Recoils out for their own class.

By the way....lots of people run multiple classes because Strictly doesn't charge extra for an extra class. It's the one fee of 10 bucks to race any and all classes. After the main race on the road course we took down the road and made an oval and we had one oval race for those that stayed because there was time left over at the end of the day.

I wish.

Nope, no nitro because the track setup is too close to a residential area.

How big is the outdoor track? The indoor looks to be rather small.

Strictly has two race programs. Indoor and outdoor.

During the Summer:

Wednesday nights race 1/18th on road and off road and Recoils on an indoor Ozite track built specifically for that scale. Aprox. 30 x20. Regular racers on the current layout are seeing aprox 6.5 second laptimes with Recoils and Xray M18's.

Sunday afternoons race any electric vehicle on the parking lot asphalt, which is a prepared track aprox. 90 x50 feet. We've been seeing 1/10th sedans running foams and rubber, Recoils, 1/12th scales, and various other 1/18th scale vehicles. the layout changes every week.

Here's some photos from May:

If there's three of any type of electric they'll make a class for you. So go ahead and bring those bad boy E-maxx's out and make your own class.....
