Learning engine mods - cr4sh_27 - 07-28-2007 So, i like to think of myself as a pretty mechanically inclined guy so i want to try my hand at doin engine mods. in the past, on my street cars ive always done porting and polishing on intake and heads, so im sure ntro engines would be a breeze. my question to you guys is, do you know where i could find any info on learning to mod nitro engines. ive got a few engines lying aroud that im pretty much gonna throw away anyway, so they are gonna be practice engines. im not interested in takin my engines to anyone that does mods, i want to learn it myself. thanks for the help Learning engine mods - cr4sh_27 - 07-28-2007 wow....thats surprising! i figured SOMEONE knew where to find info/lierature on this. Learning engine mods - SaVaGe_DuDe - 07-28-2007 ok, i know your not a fan of savages, but on the the savage-central forums, theres tons of threads and info on modding engines. http://www.savage-central.com and click the forums tab on the left, make an account and search your little heart out. there are quite a few experienced engine modders that use that forum, but i dont think theyll be willing to give out their "secrets" but check it out, TONS of info on almost any subject you can think of. Learning engine mods - cr4sh_27 - 07-28-2007 thanks brotha from anotha motha Learning engine mods - SaVaGe_DuDe - 07-28-2007 hahaha, no problem. have a good time looking for what you need. Learning engine mods - Ponch - 07-28-2007 There was a thread about it floating around on here a while ago, try searching things like "engine mods" and "port and polish" etc.. Cut a cross or a "+" symbol into the button and it will increase power by directing the flame of the burning fuel charge across the head of the piston for a quicker more even burn Learning engine mods - MX_KEVIN - 08-04-2007 I call "B S"mash: Learning engine mods - rocco79 - 08-04-2007 they did a test in extreme kev.... It was alot of power but it was an increase Learning engine mods - hansarvin - 08-04-2007 It wouldn't hurt to re-break it in IMO. And can you post up the links you've found so far on the topic? Learning engine mods - rocco79 - 08-04-2007 How the hell can you "re-breakin a motor"??? Break-in is the act of seating the piston to the sleeve.... A wear in process.... modding the ports on the sleeve in no way at all alter the "fit" if the p/s. If anything you could richen the needles 4 or 5 hrs and work back to the new sweet spot since youve totally changed the tune of the motor Learning engine mods - hansarvin - 08-04-2007 ok Rocco you got me there but I guess I meant take it slow for few tanks like you would on break-in Learning engine mods - J-Dub - 08-05-2007 I've wanted to mod my REVO motor. . . I wonder... Learning engine mods - cr4sh_27 - 08-05-2007 rocco79 Wrote:How the hell can you "re-breakin a motor"??? yep ur right....i ran the motor the other day and found that since i modded the sleeve the tune was ways off line. what i got out of simple sleeve mod was... better fuel economy...bout 5mins more per tank smoother power delivery/better response and without being on a dyno im guessin that i got a cople k rpm out of it....it seems like it has lot more. still havent found much on block and crank but my buddy just toasted a nova rossi, so he's gonna give me his crank to see if i can duplicate the spiral cuts in there. he's called it, "turbo...something or other". ill let u guys know what happens Learning engine mods - J-Dub - 08-05-2007 well if you're figuring out engine mods. . . Let me know when you want to mod a motor for me? lol Learning engine mods - cr4sh_27 - 08-06-2007 J-Dub Wrote:well if you're figuring out engine mods. . . Let me know when you want to mod a motor for me? lol lol... no doubt...once i get the science of it down! but right now, id rather trash my engines learnin. thirdgengta just sent me the info i needed so im gonna start on moddin the crank and block tonight. i knew i kept them crappy a$$ axial 28's for a reason.....DONORS lmao Learning engine mods - J-Dub - 08-07-2007 I'd love just to have +5 Minutes runtime on my already pretty good 14. Mains without pitting anyone? Learning engine mods - Thirdgen89GTA - 08-12-2007 If anyone feels up to using a dremel or file set. Read the link. Engine port & Polish |
