bump box issue - cr4sh_27 - 08-25-2007 has anyone bought the team losi bump box for the buggy/truggy? last friday i picked one up from al's. i threw 2 1500stick packs in it and tried to start the buggy. it wouldnt kick the motor over more than one (compression cycle?). so, i figured that the batteries werent charged enough. the box came with connectors to hook up to a 12v source so i hooked it up to my car battery. same thing, it would only turn it over 1 compression cycle. so, i figured to loosen the glow plug a lil. doin that got it to turn 2-3 compression cycles. at this point i was gettin a lil frustrated. so i walked away to smoke a cig and figure out why it wouldnt turn over. finally i got an idea...i tapped it in quick succession and it eventually fired. i basically went through the whole night starting it like this...i probably started it four times. so i figured this is just how imma have to start it. well, tonight i went out to kohls and tried to start the buggy using the same method. long story short, after a couple of minutes the box started smokin. so i pop the lid off to find that the lil plastic fans inside the motors are melted...and the motor were roasting hot. my questions are: was this operater error? (ive never had a bump box b4) has anyone had this same problem? could it be that the bump box cant handle kickin over a .32? bump box issue - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 08-25-2007 lotta guys have been having problems with them, they are junk pick up a TTR/AE box or one of the ofna 3 way boxes, or a mugen box bump box issue - cr4sh_27 - 08-25-2007 Czech-it-Out Graphics Wrote:lotta guys have been having problems with them, they are junk pick up a TTR/AE box or one of the ofna 3 way boxes, or a mugen box really!!! that sux....i knew i should of spent more than 60 bucks for a brand new box. just goes to show...you get what you pay for!! thanks for the recommendation:beer: bump box issue - cheesecake - 08-25-2007 replace the motors with some 550's rewire the whole thing and it should work out well. 550 motors [DYN5611] Dynamite Ready-Start 550 Motor w/Capacitor i use a crappy dynamite box and i just bought 2 7.2 stick packs for it today and wow what a diffrence it made from the 12 volt gel cell bump box issue - Ponch - 08-25-2007 What you gotta do, is when you get the new box, find the screw that you access thru the bottom of the box and adjust it so that the box's wheel starts spinning earlier when you push down on the lid. Then, you CANNOT slam down on the motor like on other boxes to get it to start. You have to barely touch the flywheel to the box to get it to work correctly. As always you can do other things to help also, loosen the plug like you did, preheat the motor, or get the updated losi flywheel which is 2-3x's wider than the older version. Oh and switch the plugs to deans, and possibly even rewire the box with thicker wire (lower gauge). Hope this helps. bump box issue - Czech-it-Out Graphics - 08-25-2007 sounds like a lot of BS to get a box to work bump box issue - cheesecake - 08-25-2007 it is but on the 8ight you have to mess with the box anyway to get it to work so either way it sucks bump box issue - cr4sh_27 - 08-25-2007 Czech-it-Out Graphics Wrote:sounds like a lot of BS to get a box to work no kiddin... i think im just gonna send this one back to losi. grab a new one and sell it. then get one of the other boxes. im just blown away by how fast it fried. bump box issue - cr4sh_27 - 08-25-2007 ponch... thanks bump box issue - cheesecake - 08-25-2007 i think if you buy the new motors and rewire it you will be better off. you have to modify other boxes to work anyway. but thats just my opinion bump box issue - J-Dub - 08-25-2007 60 dollars is cheap...my revo box cost me a total of 220 |
