I'm not sure what you mean?

What's your point?

you don't need more than a stock motor, and the most popular class is GT3 which is a sedan, rubber tires, 7.2 or 7.4 volt batteries and a 16 dollar silver can motor.

The ghetto, will my dubs get stolen off my ride?

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 11-24-2007

Check out the photos at their website. You'll notice there's safe secure indoor parking. So the answer is no, your car is safe. There's indoor parking for a ton of cars.

I have to check this place out. I remember taking samples of the wastewater when the bread plant was there.

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 12-20-2007

Underground now has heated pit space and the driver's stand has supplemental heat.

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 05-09-2008

Underground RC Racetrack is now racing every two weeks on Wednesday nights. Practice is at 6pm, races to begin about 7-7:30pm.

First race is May 21, 2008.

Two qualifiers and one main race.

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 06-02-2008

We're racing this Wednesday June 4th at Underground. Doors open at 6pm.

Underground RC Chicago - Tex - 06-06-2008

Kenji, did I see one of your kids faces in the July issue of RCCar?
Looked familiar.....maybe Cody?

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 06-06-2008

Yes, that's Kole, my 10 year old.

I haven't seen the issue yet but I hear he's got a sticker on his head in one image and also has the ugliest lexan body in another image.

We raced the Trans Am nationals race this past April. That was a really fun race.

He also lucked out at that race big time and won the raffle for the HPI 18SS vintage nitro car. He's on HPI's website too.

Lucky kid!

Underground is now racing again.

New this year: CARPET!

We're currently racing on Sundays. Track opens for practice at 10am. Racing starts at 1pm. 15 bucks, 3 qualifiers and 1 main race, race as many classes as you'd like for that 15 bucks.

Also new this year:

Additional heaters in the pit area. Last sunday we stripped down to T-shirts in the pits it was so warm inside. The driver's stand now has an industrial heater installed above.

Indoor parking for 60 cars.

Underground RC Chicago - BobWoodhouse - 12-03-2008

What other track can offer indoor parking in the winter time?!?!?!

Hey ChicagoKenji:
It is "Jerry the Nitro Bike Guy". Does Underground RC still run nitro. Yes, it is all that I have. I get the impression they are all electric now. Can you enlighten me?
You always have the pulse of the audience-----

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 12-11-2008

Hi Gerry!

UG races on carpet on Sundays with electric. They also have an "indoor arena" for nitro bashing. It's industrial concrete, about 60 feet by 300 or more. Stop by on Sunday and run that bike of yours.

Underground RC Chicago - GeraldRisch - 12-11-2008

So the answer is yes? Do you know of any organized races for Nitros? I still have that tank of an Inferno GT and yes, the bike still runs. Going to need some shock work and new tires for next season. Have fun guys and play nice.

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 12-11-2008

I'm not sure how to answer your question "So the answer is yes?".

Underground used to have indoor drag races and nitro was a main stay of that.

This year they discontinued the indoor drag racing, installed carpet on their on road track, heated the pits better, heated the driver's stand, and are now allowing nitro and electric vehicles to bash in a different area within the building than where the carpet track is layed out.

Underground RC Chicago - hotrodlincoln - 12-16-2008

man i was just wondering if you guys were running trans am what are the rules for that class?

Underground RC Chicago - chicagokenji - 12-16-2008

Two posts up is a video from one of our trans am races. We follow the US Vintage Trans Am rules. Find them here:

I've been out of the hobby for years now. What kits does everyone race now? I have my older Tamiya cars. I have an FF-01, TA-02 and the newest one is the TL-01 (not really so new). I'd like to get my nephews involved, they're 13 and 15, and they are starting to get into cars. What is the majority of people running on the track? I really like the Tamiya kits because of the ease of assembly and attention to detail but it's been years since I've assembled one so I don't know if they still are the same quality. I'd like to get into it as cheap as possible because I don't know if my nephews would really stay into it.

Other than the US Vintage Trans Am class what other classes are there? The last battery pack I bought was a Dynamite 1700 7cell hump pack for my Traxxas Hawk 2. (I hope I don't show my age with that one!) Do I really need to get into NiMh or the Lipo packs? Also, do people still run AM 75 MHz radios anymore or would I need to upgrade my electronics as well?

Sorry for the long winded post, I just wanted to get as much info I can.

Thanks for all the help.
