Indoor Rockcrawling - Jeepguy - 12-03-2007 DESTRUCTION!!!!! (construction for the ones that don't understand my humor) We have started building our indoor crawler couse at HobbyTown USA Naperville!!! This project I have been given almost free range on what I want to do! Destruction started and will continue through out the week! Ill post some pictures as soo as I can. :joy: Indoor Rockcrawling - thenewguy821 - 12-03-2007 Post up some ideas and a little how to, if you can. The Hobbytown in Orland wants Me and Firesprink to help set up a crawler course there as well... Indoor Rockcrawling - BJoe - 12-03-2007 Sweet!!!! Does this mean I need to bring in my WK when I work down there on Saturday? Indoor Rockcrawling - bubbaracing - 12-04-2007 Too cool, pics pics pics!! lol Indoor Rockcrawling - Jetboat - 12-04-2007 I forgot to ask you earlier....what are you using for a topping... if portability isnt a big issue I say go with a thin layer of concrete, it will give the most realistic results. Let me know if you need help, I might have built a couple indoor and outdoor rock courses in my time :headbang: Maybe Ill swing in Saturday with the AI-GRC rig (if the parts come in Ill bring the Bronco) Indoor Rockcrawling - BJoe - 12-04-2007 See you then Jeff! Indoor Rockcrawling - Jeepguy - 12-09-2007 TEASER PIC! Indoor Rockcrawling - BJoe - 12-09-2007 Already been there, crawled that. Can't wait for more either Zack! Indoor Rockcrawling - Jetboat - 12-10-2007 Sorry I couldnt make it Saturday...I'll be in on Wednesday...who's working? Indoor Rockcrawling - BJoe - 12-10-2007 Jetboat Wrote:Sorry I couldnt make it Saturday...I'll be in on Wednesday...who's working? Not sure, I'm off from both on Wed. Indoor Rockcrawling - bubbaracing - 12-11-2007 Sweet! Indoor Rockcrawling - BJoe - 12-12-2007 UPDATE! This is as of 4:30pm on 12/12/07:headbang: Indoor Rockcrawling - briyouu - 12-13-2007 lookin cool guys Indoor Rockcrawling - stratcat - 12-17-2007 bubbaracing Wrote:Sweet! hey bitch!!! why ain't we been there yet? Indoor Rockcrawling - bubbaracing - 12-18-2007 Cause it ain't done yet! I think? No worries we'll go after the holidays! Believe me I WANT to go! We need to stress test that king!! Indoor Rockcrawling - Jetboat - 12-19-2007 spent the afternoon at HT yesterday working on the course.... My Bronco ate it for lunch so out came the concrete. There is still allot to do but its gettingthere fast. And I hear they are talking about adding on...maybe a mountain (right Zach??) All kidding aside, the sandcrete is making for a very realistic crawling surface and the new method thats going to be used to top coat it should make it look realistic and maybe take away a little grip. Also wait until you see where/how I added a few rocks in the crete... Should make for some nice high centering. Indoor Rockcrawling - BJoe - 12-19-2007 Should make for some nice high centering? It does make for some nice high centering Jeff I'll have to swap the M3 M2K's on it and add some shock clips to it once the course is done. The course is going together nice guys:headbang:, can't wait to see it when done! I'll probably do a P-94 brush swap on the Lathe motor tonight since the damn brushed kept hanging up when I tried to run the course:mad: Indoor Rockcrawling - Mnster - 12-20-2007 Looks great, can't wait till it's finished. I wish I could help but the drive is nearly 2 hours. Maybe, I can help with the rules and course setup when it comes time for comps. I am the Midwest rules chairman on RCC if you guys have questions feel free to ask. The artifical stuff looks way more fun then the real rock you've got piled up there. As for coating I assume you guys are going to go with textured spray paint? I used the Sandstone color on my poop mountain it turned out ok. Be prepared to use a lot of cans though. Indoor Rockcrawling - Jetboat - 12-20-2007 Top coat will actually be very runny sandmix with extra sand mixed in... we tried it in a small area and it came out very nice kind of like well weathered sandstone. We were discussing sealing it after its stained also. The idea is to make it difficult enough to be a challenge but crawlable enough that employees can demo vehicles for customers. I wish I had some extra time off that I could go help but Im out of weekdays off... Maybe we can set up a Saturday I can come help finish it? Indoor Rockcrawling - Jeepguy - 12-25-2007 Jeff: Once again thanks for the help!!!! I can only do so much alone. I want to have the course done in time for a NewYear comp! Indoor Rockcrawling - Jetboat - 12-26-2007 might be able to help on New Years Eve afternoon (we should get off work 4hrs early) Just let me know and Ill be there. if your planning a NewYears comp Im going to have to get busy working on my tuber so I can have something for the wife to drive. Indoor Rockcrawling - Jeepguy - 12-31-2007 Jeff, Feel free to come by I need to get this thing done! Im a little pissed off due to the fact that the ##$$$$ down the street had the idea to build their own course which is really nothing more then some rocks on some wood (Had other choice words but keeping it G rated) So I could use a hand if ya got some time. Wow.. didnt know you guys didnt like RC Hobbies. I asked them what you guys thought of each other and they said you guys come in there and buy your Crawler parts. I guess some guy named Jay was in there a few days ago and bought a few things. So I assumed all was cool between you guys and they didnt say anything bad. I stopped in to check out Hobby Towns a few weeks ago. Was there with a friend of mine. We just looked it over for like 10 mins or so and 2 guys behind the counter didnt even say HI. So I kind of felt out of place and it was no where near being done, just a mound of rock. I didnt know anyone couple help out until I got on this website. Anyways, you guys are in competition so I should have just figured something was in the background. I am sure we will all go to each place. Hell its a win win for us Im hoping leisure hours sets something up too! This way everyone has the parts in stock and need something I can get it now (Yes I am a impulse buyer) keeps the economy going alute: So in final.. get that thing going already! I saw the post on rccrawler almost a month ago.. I need to break some more parts! Indoor Rockcrawling - Jetboat - 12-31-2007 Dang it...why didnt you reply sooner so I could have drove seperate from my wife.... Ill see what time I can get off.... Anyone going to be around tomorrow??? I was down at my place this weekend crawling with the 34 ford and the bronco, the bronco doesnt look nearly as nice anymore, loads of rock rash but let me tell you, that thing can crawl!!!. What Im seeing on that RC hobbies course looks like a Joke but, its good motivation for HT to build a better more comp worthy course. If you want to put a nail in the RCH course, lets bust but and get the course done and host a GTG and then a comp. SBNfred does have a point that some of those guys in the store realy could use some customer service training. Need to show people that HT is crawler friendly. PLUS RCH is over priced!!! They wanted $500+ for an Emaxx when I check the place out. Sorry for my little rant.... Ill try to stop by this afternoon...if you can have the prep work done I can help get the crete finished and the rocks layed out. And I have an idea to make the course better that wont cost any money. Indoor Rockcrawling - SBNFred - 12-31-2007 What I am really interested in is competitions.. RCH doesn't plan to have any that I know of, however I could be wrong. They basically built theirs for customers to try out the crawlers and focus on having parts in stock. Honestly I just want to have a great time crawling. Either being at HT or RCH. I wanted to be treated well when I come in and leave. (Hell I have to do it for my customers at my job, its something I want in return) If HT gets theres done and I enjoy spending my time there. Ill just stop at RCH to pickup my parts and head right over. Course if I break something I can just pick something up on my way home also. Honestly I am really happy about this competition between the two. As I said before we the customers are really going to benefit from this. Parts will be in stock and we got places to play BTW.. Looked at the E-MAXX Yesterday.. ALMOST bought it.. $359 at RCH.. wife would have killed me though specially since I just bought this axial.. Keep us posted! I want to know when its ready.. or if you need my help.. though I am new to crawling so I dont know how much I can really do |
