Quote:After the exclusive news about the Mugen/GRP split, we are pleased to publish detailed pictures of the JX21-B01 engine and various parts. Click 'Read More' to view them.

The engine, OEM manufactured by OS engines for Ninja, is loosely based on their V-Spec with some custom features: the crankcase is from the OS 28XZ engine and does not feature the distinctive OS 'black' coating, the sleeve port design is a bit different from the V-Spec, head design, the crankshaft appears to have the same 'DLC' coating as the OS Speed V-spec but without counterweights. All in all a mix up of a few OS engines and Ninja branding.

OS does rock. Haha

Whats the point of putting a .21 in a .28 Crank-case.

bigger crank bearings

O.S. Making new ninja engines - J-Dub - 01-26-2008

Ahh, Never really thought of that. Wonder how it runs.

Like junk

stupid....

O.S. Making new ninja engines - chickenfarmer3 - 01-26-2008

That is gonna be a good motor.

O.S. Making new ninja engines - slaytanic - 01-26-2008

I agree. It will be a good motor but I bet overpriced! The head looks fragile. Wonder if it will have the legendary OS reliability and ease of tune?

O.S. Making new ninja engines - J-Dub - 01-26-2008

I would think with the oversized crankshaft bearings you're gonna get something a bit more reliable, more support for the crank less vibrations or something. I wouldnt really call it a breakthrough but it definatly has some good logic.

Uhhhhh.... Who said .28's have bigger crank bearings?????

O.S. Making new ninja engines - J-Dub - 01-27-2008

*shrug* Some guy. Never took one apart like i know. :-D

O.S. Making new ninja engines - rocco79 - 01-27-2008

Ok... well a .28 only has a larger bore and MAYBE a slightly longer stroke. T.... The case is no bigger, i mean C'mon how would you bolt it in if it was? if anything it may be .1 or .2 mm bigger but wheres the advantage in that?. i would think the advantage would be a thicker sleevve making the motor more durable and then being able to take advantage of the new porting in the .28

O.S. Making new ninja engines - J-Dub - 01-27-2008

Yeah...some guy in the beginning said that.

Would you want a longer stroke, or a bigger bore...longer stroke has more torque doesnt it, bigger bore short stroke gives you more top end right?

If I remember this from engines class in college hah

O.S. Making new ninja engines - chickenfarmer3 - 01-29-2008

pretty sure its the other way around, the long stroke allows for more rpm's on top, and the bigger bore gives more down low....I THINK

O.S. Making new ninja engines - J-Dub - 01-29-2008

yeah I cant remember from engines class. Makes sense a short stroke will bring you to RPM more quickly but i think longer stroke gives you more torqeu. Who knows they are all mostly fast anyway, unless its like a 90 buck engine.

O.S. Making new ninja engines - slaytanic - 01-29-2008

Shorter Stroke=Higher possible RPM's

O.S. Making new ninja engines - J-Dub - 01-29-2008

thats the one. Lol
