Dirt Track Losi Micros - BJoe - 02-22-2008

I decided to spin off what I posted on Bubba's Micro Truck thread into it's own and thank Matt for the inspiration tooConfusedalute:

I started by lining up a Revell 1/32 GTO with the MDT to see if it would even be feasible to use the models from this line of kits on the MDT chassis....It is:joy:

I later discovered that the GTO's wheelbase is a little long (maybe 1/16th of an inch, nothing too serious) for the MDT chassis and the '55 CHevy (now back out of productionSad), '69 Camaro Z-28, and '70 Mustang Mach 1 would probably be a closer fit. I'll post my initial findings on the bow-ties later on, but the Goat and maybe the Stang would be a better choice if you want a little easier go at it. Revell also makes a C3 Vette ans was making a '34 Ford 3 window coupe, but the Vetter would probably be best for any Monster Garage recreationsWink, and I don't know how well the '34 body would be for a Jalopy body and it's been taken back out of production again tooConfusedlapSadif Mike still has one at Naperville I pick it up on Sunday.....)

After this mock up I ordered the Baja front tower/rear body post set and a set of Street Meats. Gotta love how cheap this truck is to modify...even whe you get carried awayBig Grin

Lol.... that's badass

Once I finally got all the parts needed in, I could finish things up conversion wiseCool

After trying to mount the rear Baja post either way and ended up finding that putting it towards the front of the chassis dropped the body low enough on the chassis to look "right" to me, but to do this you also need to use the Micro-T front shock tower and put clearance holes in the hood for the shocks/tower to protrude through a bit, next one I do I'm going to try heating the plastic witha soldering iron and forming a bump with the "business end" a bladeless #1 X-Acto knife (the small one using #11 blades) in the "hood" of the body.

Chassis and tower pics;

With body mounted;

Mounting the body this was for the '69 Z-28 and '55 will probably require some heating (again using a soldering iron) and reshaping of the "deck lids" and "daisey panels" on both bodies to clear the transmissions as well as using the Baja front tower instead of the T or MDT front tower because of the height of the hoods on those two bodies. Now all these bodies are styrene plastic and molded in...unusual...colors (the current issue of the '69 Z-28 is in snot green:ughSmile

Before I forget, Discovered the other day that the 2mm locknuts for the Micro RS4 are a perfect fit on the Threaded axles for the Losi Micro TrucksSmile

Got the Camaro mounted up, had to use a Micro-Baja front tower and Monokote gun to reform the body a little to fit.

May have to build bumpers for these bodies like on the slot cars built here
