I switched to Carbon shoes after wearing out my alum shoes. I however didn't realize that the Alum shoes were worn, as they had the snap they had when new and weren't slippinf resulting in a nice spring gouge in my clutch bell./ The carbons I had wore out, well, almost out, in about 5-6 tanks. My presumption is to replace the clutch bell. Im going to assume I'm right.

Don't you always assume that you're right?

For once you are. There's metallic particles engrained in the cb from the Alu shoes. I remember that some guys would soak the used cb's in something (cant remember what, some kind of solvent) that would remove the aluminum but leave the clutch bell in tact.

Yeah, I'll have to look into that for my next clutch. I got a big groove in it right now from the springs, I think that isn't such a problem as that aluminium residue.

Im not sure what your running carbon in but i find that high traction = short life for the carbon shoes. No carbon indoors @ LH or outdoors on pavement. Id only run them on a blown out no traction track like last year at LH outdoor track. (J/K)
I do however run the Forlonie(sp?)carbon slider on both buggy and truggy with VZB's all the time indoors and out and have not worn them out yet...Many gallons on them. Doesnt hit as hard as aluminum but lasts forever and when I have to pay full price for all my parts, long life is what im looking for.

Well, the weird part is Mike L and Bernie both run the carbons and have no problems. me however I'm smoking them

You can run them indoor, I know I used to do it all the time until I started running the M2C clutches. Make sure you blow out your clutch bearings so your shit doesnt slip. Most carbon shoes wont last you more than a gallon

5 tanks s a little less than normal I think LOL

I'm just going to switch back to aluminium
Lasted be about 1.5 Gallons

i say give the mip a try it has a completely different engagement then the other clutch setups ive tried it kind of gives it a electric feel when on and off the throttle more responsive would be the what im trying to say lol

the MIP isnt your traditional carbon clutch, you will get alot of miles out of that.
