Well the Democrats took the house..... now to keep my fingers crossed they take the senate too. This is really close. I almost feel kind of nerdy following it this close. I love it.

I gave up on following as much as I used to. It is all just games they play. The people they protect. The finger pointing they do. The lies they tell. I dont trust either side. Then again, when I look at the people,I dont look at what side they are on. I look at what they stand for.

Sad thing, many people in this country dont do that. They will vote for that side no matter what that person stands for. I cant stand clinton and she got her seat back in NY. And I am glad I dont live in Cook County if todd wins. How they can even think about voting him in I have no clue.

Why rod got back in I am not sure either. Then again, when one spends money 5 times more then the other. You can say he 'bought' the election.

But everywhere I look. I hear the same thing. Even if both the house and senate change over. It will still be to close in the senate for anything to happen with bush still in. So nothing will get done for atleast the next 2 years. Basicly, all they will be able to do is raise a stink over things. But I see that will be the only thing that goes on. Everything will still be the same. About 100 big kids fighting over stupid things because their group says no even though their people say yes.

Well its a bittersweet victory for the Dems. I am pleased that they took the House, needed 16 seats and got 28! I am glad because balance is restored to the Force. There were NO checks and balances for 6 years, and Bush never met a bill he didn't like - until stem cells at least. Now we will see A LOT of vetos in the next two years = less BS pork money going around, a lot less partisan crap sailing through Congress, and hopefully, everyone will return to doing their friggin JOBS! And I hope the Dems don't screw up, or they're screwed.

I would rather have rod in than topinka.......

As for the Senate. It looks like the dems will take it 51-49. They won montana by 3000 and missouri by more than that. They are also up by 6000 in virginia.

And czech..... can you actually comprehend the republican ideas or do you just do what mommy and daddy do?

I thought it was important for Rod to win, because when Obama runs for Pres in 08, the Gov will appoint his successor. I did not want Topinka to appoint our next senator.

Obama runs in 08? cool...I like him. That'd be the first non-white president if he won too, right? Any clue who he's up against?

Try to follow politics a bit first. Why do you like him?? He has not actually said he is running yet. People just assume. He would technically be the first non-white president though if he runs and wins as he is half african american. The republicans have not said who will be running yet either.

+1 to that.
I heard today that although the Dems took control. They still have to worry in 2 years. They won by such a slim amount of votes on alot of those races. So that shows that the people were not totally behind the Dems.

So now the heat is on for many of them to show they can do the job they have talked about. Which will be hard because the two groups of Dems that are there,Bush still in office,so if anything does pass,it will get veto'ed and I highly doubt the Dems will be able to get togther the amount of votes needed to overturn that. I see nothing but bitching and crying for the next two years with little being done.

I bet that the Dems either loose control of congress or their lead gets cut to almost nothing on '08. As for who runs. I have heard Obama, but he has yet to answer the question when it is asked. Now that the elections are over. Maybe he will answer. I have heard Clinton for a few years now. But I have also heard that she wouldnt have a chance. As for the Rep.,There have been many names tossed around but they will have to deal with whatever is left over from Iraq in order to make it.

I just wish people could elect someone because of who they are and what they stand for. Not what party they are apart of.
We will just have to see what happens.

That is why a lot of people are pulling for Obama to run. If you listen to him talk he seems incredibly intelligent and like he can really relate with common people.

As for saying that the dems won by such a slim margin..... that is because they had to take over current republican seats. They were not democrat states that they needed to hold. It was a very close race but hopefully there will actually be checks and balances again.

There were dem seats up for grabs. And they held them all. But yes,all the seats they took were from either Rep. that left or were up for for another term.

I have not payed to much attention to Obama. I know he is one of the new Dems to come out that keep everything down to earth and dont float BS to the public. He is a very smart man too. Question is,can he keep that level head about him and not let himself get wrapped up in the normal party BS that goes on so much these days.

My wife and I met Obama at an early fundraiser in Naperville before he won his seat. He has character and charisma, and was very serious about his ideals and his politics. One thing that was profound was how he listens to people. I remember him saying something to the effect that fear is easier to sell than hope, and that is why is has so much work ahead of him. Sure, he has not declared his intent, but I truly hope he runs in 08.

No offence, but that is part of the problem with American voting...

Vote for the Democrats to piss off the Republicans... (Regardless of their views)

Vote for the guy who isn't Bush... (Just because he isn't Bush)

Vote for the Black guy, to piss off the racists... (Who cares what his policy is)

Don't get me wrong, From what I have seen of Obama, he is a qualified cantidate, but he is still too fresh into politics. He's only been in office for 2 years. In that time, he has written 2 books and spent a month in Africa. When has he had time to be a politician? He needs a little more learning time, before he can truly be ready to lead the country. In my opinion.
I'll keep my God, my freedom, my guns, and my money. You can keep "THE CHANGE."
