Traxxas Customer Service said "sorry" to any kind of warranty. Shame on me for telling them the truth.
I shopped eBay and found a sealed new-in-box engine for $83 shipped. Had to jump on that. So it's another boring wimpy stock engine for the Revo. At least I don't have to monkey around making it fit in there and connecting it to an exhaust. Stock setup served us well the first time around, maybe we can take a little better care of this one and get more like 5-6 gallons thru it? The blown engine will make a nice desk ornament for the office.

Make sure you take the piston and con-rod out to make a keychain!

Refer to picture with blownout conn rod. No attachment point left on the rod. doh.

5-6 gallons on a 2.5? it's been done, but not that often....it's luck of the draw, some of them are powerful and last a long time, some just plain suck.

if you can keep the temp under 260 they last a long time, if your running it maxed out for racing, 2 gallons if your lucky
11-26-2006, 10:18 AM
I'd rather have 2-3 gallons of hauling the mail, then 8 gallons of putt-putting around. If you have to run so rich it has no power what's the point? I may have been too lean on average over the life of that engine, but it was worth it!!!
The new engine is mounted and ready for break-in. Later today maybe!

Well, broke it in with 30% and it's running 210-215 with the body on and making decent power. A new plug and a little more tune and we shall see how this new engine performs.

Thanks
01-03-2007, 11:07 PM
I didn't run one, but was told that you should. 1/2 the people do, 1/2 the people don't I think....

I never ran an extra and I was fine, 1 gallon of Trinity Platinum and a galoan and a quarter of Byrons, the motor already had about 2 gallons of Trinity 20% on it and as far as I know it is still running.

u will get detonation on the head if u take all the shims outta the motor, it will resemble an extremely lean condition, hard to tune, probably have some messed up timing as well

Detonation
The piston top and head button will start to pit.

First of all stop asking the same damn question you just asked a few minutes ago, its getting annoying. It makes the motor easier to tune, run cooler.
