Questions for Electric Offroad Racers
#1
I am getting more old electric cars cleaned up and getting ready to run them again.

1. What turn motors are you using for modified stadium truck class? 2wd Buggy?

2. Is there any recommendations for what motors to buy for a potential racer on a budget?

3. Any recommendations for 27 turn stock motors?

Thanks for the help

Goat, there aren't a whole lot of electric guys here, but those who know will answer you.

For a value motor, I am giving a Peak Raven S2 a try in a 2wd buggy. About $19.

I think 19T are pretty popular for indoor, but so many guys are jumping into brushless....but you did mention "racer on a budget", so let's skip brushless and LiPo batt's for now.
got paint?

Yeah, I noticed its mostly nitro. I have 2 nitros as well but would like to get my electrics up to speed. I used to race them about 10 years ago and want to update motors and batteries. I live pretty far from the track but would eventually like to race every now and then.

I have some old reedy modified motors, and stock motors but they seem slow. I am not sure if its because the age of the motors or if my batteries are not performing correctly(I am ordering a ice charger this week). I figure if I pick up a decent new motor, I can compare them to the old ones.

Thanks

goat- I'm running a 19t reedy spec quad mag in my t4, and a peak raven s also for mod, not at lh yet, but I am running at a track near my home.
you can pick up that peak for cheaper from tower hobbies, plus get yourself a set of enduro brushes for another 3 bucks and you'll be set.
a lot of guys at the track I race at have gone to brushless, which is a big time advantage in my opinion.

bad- what version of that peak motor are you running the the V2 or the non V2? Are you running just 19 turns or running something else for non 19-turn modified class?

Thanks

here I'll post a link for it basically the brushes go through the springs and the whole thing is setup on in a v shape off the comm. its an awesome motor. I either run that one, which is a 10 double, a couple 14t doubles, I think there onyx from trinity, and the 19t reedy. all of these I run in the mod truck class, depending on the track conditions, they change with the weather. we had a toys for tots race on saturday, when we got there it was slicker than snot on the track, but as the day wore on and the heaters kicked in the track dried out and had tons of traction, if it would have lasted a little longer it would have been to dry.
heres the link for the motor, and the enduro brushes are also listed on there
$17 you can't go wrong, the motor is super fast.

in 2wd mod a 12t will be great the v2 based budget motors mentioned above are awesome. at lesiure hours the big class is 19t truck and teh reedy motor is most popular but i have heard good things about the checkpoint money 19t.
as far as a stocker goes the trinty co27 is really nice has good torque and is fast. if you plan to go to leisure hours there is no need for a stocker except for big races. if you have more questions just ask.

E-clips can travel at hundred of miles an hour and increase speed as they bouce off objects...if only mankind could harness this incredible power source.
