GS storm XuT pro Truggy
#1
I am somewhat new to nitro burning rc's, I am also new to this forum as well, it seems to be a great place. I was wanting to get a 4wd rtr truggy, but im kinda torn between the market, I am looking at the Jammin X1crt, and the Hyper Truggy due out in Jan. I also seen this GS XuT pro which really caught my eye for the price ( $450 w/ engine and pipe ), I read Marty Korn placed 5th in ROAR gas nats, only difference is his truck had some Fioroni upgrades and different powerplant, he even ran the same body as pictured below. Anyways, what is the best truggy out there as far as a rtr is concerned, the Jammin, the Hyper, or this new storm, Also will the eight T be available as RTR, if so, how much roughly? thx a lot helping the n00blet out....peace

heres a few shots i found of the XuT

Don't be fooled by ANY company putting the word "PRO" on any RTR. It's like putting Turbo on an electric....????

Jammin' CRT's are great trucks, just ask RobH. As RTR they might have some weaknesses, that a hardcore racer would change out, but for casual racing, they can do the job and are a solid platform for future upgrades.

Lot's of people are drooling over the Losi, and the 8 buggy has won quite a few converts. It should be nice, and Losi has learned that RTR's sell. Unfortunately, they are in business, and their RTR 8 buggy has been panned by those who see it. IF the 8truggy comes in an RTR, you might want to look hard before jumping on it, versus the kit.

If instant gratification from an RTR is your goal, the Jammin is a very safe bet.

if mugen had a rtr i would probably say mugen, if you are looking into racing i recomend buying as kit but if you are just going to the track every once in a while then all you are going to get is opinions on whatever the person posting is driving at the time, i recomend going to the track and watching some guys run and looking at them in person, if you are just going to bash i wouldnt recomend a truggy. a pure monster truck like a LST2 or Savage, TMaxx, Monster GT, is better suited for that. it's hard to say anything about trucks that havent been released yet.

Are you planning on racing or bashing? If racing I wouldn't get an RTR. Just ask questions here and read.

If building a truggy on a budget with no performance comprimises I'd get: Losi 8 Truggy, the Sportwerks .26 v2 engine (off ebay around $110), Ace Digital #DS1015 steering servo and #DS1313 throttle/brake servo ($79 A-Main Hobbies), Spektrum DX3 radio (ebay used), and Panther Boas in clay compound for indoor or GRP Grips for outdoor.

Others will have other opinions but you want a vehicle that others are driving at the track you race. That way you can share set ups and other info. You also make friends that way-everyone needs someone they can count on to pit them.

well, where i live we dont have a sanctioned track =/

so i guess I will be just looking for something to bash, but i dont really want a monster truck, I am set on a truggy, I take care of my stuff, and have been running 4wd electrics for many years, I started with a AyK radiant, so im use to the low center of gravity / good handling buggy/truggy bring.....( however i've never drove a truggy ) lol..anyways, I want to hear something good about this storm XuT, lol.........I heard Losi is not releasing an RTR of the eightT, i wish they would damnit, I may end up getting the X1crt as a kit, I have a force.26 engine with a jp2 pipe, would that power a truggy, until i can afford a "good" engine? Maybe i will just get the Jammin kit, it has all the good cnc stuff right? thx a lot guys, i appreciate your advice.

oh, and what about the Hyper guys?

I had the old GS SUT Pro, and it broke something everytime out. So I would stay away fom any GS products.

ewwwwwww, on that note, I think i will stay away from the storm, thx for the heads up man, so now its between X1crt or eight T, the x1CRT is cheaper isnt it?

I have a CRT pro, with a bunch of hopups and I rarely ever break anything. Its a great truck. People say its old, but it still practically wins every event. Yes it depends on the driver and ,many other things.

The losi truck is being delaye dtil MArch I believe, they are fixing all the quirks in it before release. The CRT is proven but I would also check into the mugen mbx5.

Are you definirtely wanting a RTR, if so I would go with the Mugen or the CRT. LOL I guess if you where wanting a kit I would get the same vehicles just the kit version. If you go RTR the one thing I would get right away are upgraded chassis braces, both RTR's come with plastic chassis braces and you dont want that.

See I am the opposite on GS products. I had a storm buggy and ran with 2 friends who had storm truggies. We never broke anything. My one friend broke a few suspension parts when he ran full speed into a fence post but that is about it. Now at the time they were good.... but not raceable now. This one may be different.... but it looks like a fairly similar setup. The only way to tell will be to wait and see if any locals get it.

Now..... if you will just be bashing with maybe an occasional visit to the track I would look into a very nice, used, lightning stadium pro. They were great racers about 6-8 months ago maybe, and are bombproof for bashing. (Aluminum arms and everything.) If you PM Rocco on here he may have a nice one he can set you up with.

If you plan on racing you should look at least into the Jammin, if not the Kyosho, Mugen, or Losi 8 based truggy. These will run you a decent amount more (not the Jammin so much) but will put you right in the scene for truggy racing. If you will be racing, and have the additional time, money, and knowledge, then buy a kit and build it up. If you want to get out there and run and kind of learn as you go, then pick up a RTR. It will not have as many factory upgrades as the kit, but will be a lot cheaper in the end.

Good luck, and welcome to the forums.

i would suggest the kyosho rtr then if you are going to waste your money , just doesnt make any sense to buy a truck that is designed for racing and use it for bashing when you can pick up something like a LST2 or a savage that would probably cost less and be more durable and do the thing that bashers like, wheelies, backflips and abuse better than a race designed truck just mho though Smile

[QUOTE=pwnzor]well, where i live we dont have a sanctioned track =/

[QUOTE]

Not many of us do live near a sanctioned track. LH is 75 miles from my house. In the summer we travel up to 3 hours to various tracks from Peoria to Madison, WI to Indiana.

Here's a great track only 129 miles from you: http://www.rivercityraceway.org/

Look on ebay for a CRT roller. Save a lot of money that way.
