Gas pricing in chicago is an outrage!!!
#1

I just drove by what is usually the cheapest gas station in my area. $3.30 for regular!! :puke:

It's gonna start costing me $70 a week just to go to work for 1 week! Oh, and don't forget the tolls. That's another $10 per week too. I swear, if I didn't car pool with 2 other guys (I only need to drive 1 out of 3 weeks) I'd have to put this hobby on hold just to pay for transportation for work.

When will this end? Is it safe to say $4.00 a gallon by christmas? Doesn't look out of the question with the current trend of gas price rising. I bought my truck last year in july, and gas cost was $1.80 on average. Almost 100% increase in the last year alone.

Thanks for listening to my rank.

Its alll a big bunch of crap!!!! This is all just a way to juice the common american and take more hard earned money from our pockets...
I bet "W's" Buddies that own oil companies, refineries and stocks are laughing there way to the bank!

Did ya guys ever notice of refineries convently break down..... Go offline or have "fires" .... Its all just a big plan to continue to push oil higher and higher. And whats with this bull about summer blended fuels??? More crap just to push prices higher.

I believe that the hurricane did stop production in the gulf.... But what about every other oil producing counrty in the world??? South america is quickly becoming a large supplier of oil, and what about that big pipe that we spent billons constructing up in alaska???

I dont know if any of you saw on fox news a few weeks back they did a report on hybrid vechiles and how to offset there higher prices fuel would have to be atleast 3.50 a gallon... Hmmm, kinda odd... Or how bout the on domestic hybrid in production is the ford escape... Kinda odd that the Japaness auto makers are the only ones with multpule models on the market..

And i dont want to here the standard argument that " Europe has been paying 6 to 7 dollars a gallon for years"... The reason for that is alll there taxes for roads, highways and personel payroll ,ect.... is incorperated into this price.

We on the other hand have town, state, and fedral taxes for these things worked into property and weekly withholding taxes. AND not to mention that there is then a sales tax of i think 37.7 cents a gallon by the state and some town also add there own local tax on top of that!!!

The truth is there is no shortage of oil, with the advancement of technology and our ability to drill deeper wells once thought to be dry are once again being pumped !!!

I could go on and on.... But ill get off my soap box. Guess im just tired of all this oil price crap and getting stuck to me with no lube every time i fill up!!

Rocco I think that is the most intelligent post I've seen from u. I agree it is crazy, especially since all I do is drive all day for work. Atleast I get reimbursed from my company, but I haven't driven the EVO for two weeks, because the price of gas is so much.

Thanks!!,
Sorry if its a little hard to follow, but i get so mad about this subject that all my ideas just fly outta my head so fast i cant type fast enough to get them all down in some sort of digestable order.

Joe, the sad part is ... I wont stop driving nor will 97% of the united states. Its partly cuz i (we) are all too subbron and in love with our cars. In america the car is a sign of freedom, ability to go where you want when you want with who you want. autos define us, its a way of making a statment. They are a part of american heritage!!!

The other reason we wont stop driving is ...... WE CANT!!!!!!! Urban sprawl dosent allow you to go anywhere on foot. And in the burbs there is little to no true public transportation system that is accesable or worth while. I guess i could ride a bike to work..... Then i could get up 2hrs earlier to get to work on time and then plan accordingly to get home that much later... Or when old man winter rolls around that would be fun a 10 mile bike ride down a frozen sidewalk when its -25f outside. Not to mention how the heck am i gonna get my r/c stuff to the track!?!!??!!

yeah its getting out of control.. hell gas prices around schuamburg are all over the place because of the chaos. everything from 2.97 to 3.40 for a gal of reg. I filled up at the mobil near me with premium for 3.30 a gal. by tomorow the woman at the counter said it will be at 3.30 a gal for regular!

Watching the news they say Reg gas could approach $5 within the next month!

What really sucks is what the gas prices are going to do to the economy in the next few months. As gas goes up, most companies profits will go down, do to the fact of the cost of doing business being higher. This in turn will kill profits and stocks will tumble, except for oil, electricity and natural gas.

The housing prices have peeked, and now does it make more sense to pay more to live closer to work so you don't have to pay more in gas, or pay less and live further out and have to pay more to drive to work.

Most companies only give an annual raise of 2-3%, but this is not keeping up with the inflation that is happening. We could all have lots of issues in the upcoming year, unless Bush steps in and does something about these gas prices. The trickle down affect is going to be huge!!!

there are almost 5,000 oil rigs in the gulf..... 20 are offline due to the hurricane .... Thats roughy 5%... Yeah, that justifies these prices....

This is a quote taken from a site i just googled... Just supports what i said about europes fuel prices...
Impact of fuel tax

"The single most effective measure" that has brought down motorists' fuel use in Europe, however, is taxation, says Dings.

On average, 60 percent of the price European drivers pay at the pump goes to their governments in taxes.

In Britain, the government takes 75 percent, and raises taxes by 5 percent above inflation every year (though it has forgone this year's rise in view of rocketing oil prices, and the French government has promised tax rebates this year to taxi drivers, truckers, fishermen, and others who depend heavily on gasoline.) On August 8, for example, the price of gas in the US, without taxes, would be $2.17, instead of $2.56; in Britain, it would be $1.97, instead of $6.06.

TWO WORDS SOLAR CARS https://www.eere-pmc.energy.gov/nasc05/i...11_001.jpg
they run completley for free. except the only solar cars made now are for racing. Im trying to start a team at my school that will build a solar car its about 5 meters long. And during june there is a race at the Texas Motor Speedway. and dell sponsors it. the only problem is that these cars are really expensive because all of the ones out now are prototypes. for a cheap a$$ car like a highschool would make it would cost 10000 dollars that car in the pic is University of Michigans car their car costed something like 1,000,000 dollars. but they look really freaking cool (how do you put a pic in a post with out like having to open something)

the United States had 21.9 billion barrels of proved oil reserves as of January 1, 2005, eleventh highest in the world

And everyday the alaskan pipeline is used to barrel up and stock pile 1,000s more ...

Hey W... How bout lettin go of some of that!!!!

actually on the 9 oclock news i heard he is using that oil now. How much i dont know but he is using some of it. Definatly not enough to bring the price down a lot but what can you do.

I also heard that they are going to tap into the reserves, but it still needs to be refined, and the refinaries that support the midwest are the ones in Lousiana.

well, everyone might as well stop complaining. cause we all have to drive no matter what. Isnt it funny? we'll pay 2.00 for a 20oz bottle of water without thinking about it.

The price of gass in Indiana is about the same as Illinois now. Thank goodness I take the train to work daily.

There hasnt been a new refinery built in the us for almost 25 years, this is because the oil tycoons make there money on the crude not the refined product. So they couldnt care less about output.

Big D. Why not complain??? This is going to totally affect the economy. Car sales will slow even more. Prices of goods will rise due the price of fuel it took to get them into stores. Plastics will rise in cost due to there made from oil. People wont travel .... This is a huge problem
