Friday nights Dupage area

The .18 in the Magnum is incredibly easy to get started and keep running. The adjustments are very easy. I am not sure if this is because of my learning on the difficult engine in my Matrix, or if it is just an easy engine period. I bought a starter box that will work with BOTH trucks, but i do not think that it will be necessary for the new one, and the Matrix has that Roto-start. I am just glad to have it as a secondary starting option. Tomorrow or Thursday I am hoping to finish the majority of the break-in on it. ALSO, I ordered some other 27mhz FM crystal sets because of the glitching between the AM and FM on this frequency. Since me and someone else seem to keep stepping on each other in this band, this should resolve that issue. It is no fun for either guy to have to sit out while the other gets to run his car. I am new to this hobby....but definitely see how it is addictive.....eBay is getting a lot of my spending $$$.

I hear yeah on the freqeuncy thing. I'm still running the am transmitter in my rs4, don't really get a chance to change it over, that and I'm lazy. But theres like 3 of use on the same am's. I run twice and I'm done to let others run. I got a spectrum I can throw in it but once again I'm to lazy. But again some motors are just finicky, you want a bad motor come over and f*** with this picco of mine. This thing is driving me up the wall! But once again, to many cars not enough time. The old lady keeps me busy for the most part. That and I'm kind of lossing interest in rc car end. This helicopter thing has really got my attention. But once again no time, I bought that cp pro friday last week and have yet to take it out of the box.

I could not let it sit in the box. It would just eat me up if I had a new toy that I was not playing with. I find myself leaving work early to play with stuff here at home....and my boss lives 3 doors away. I would have had that copter flying Friday if it was in my trunk...it would have killed me not to play with it.

it was in my trunk... To windy for that little thing. I think I'm going to sell off alot of my stuff here soon. I think there only one thing I would really like to have and play with and thats a savage x ss. I can take it to the track and bash it on friday/sunday. I would also like to keep my 18r because that thing is just so cute. :p: But I take this crap to seriously, I like to race but when I got I spend more time tweaking and adjusting then running. after awhile I end up boring myself. And once again I got to much sh** now that needs fixing or adjusting. I don't know where to start. O well, if this helicopter thing works out I'll be selling alot of this crap and moving that money over to helis.

Looking like a lot of rain tonight. IF it is wet/raining this evening, I will not make it. Hopefully Sunday will be dry.

Drag racing next weekend. Bring your cars out, and prepare to run. We've got markers for the scale 1/4 mile, so we've got 132ft to prove how fast our cars are.

Kohls parking lot, at Rt 83 & St. Charles rd. Kohls is on the east side of 83.

BTW, holy crap. When we clocked the 528xr powered LSP at 52mph last weekend the engine was spinning about 49,000rpm!!! Thats a tad beyond its 38,000rpm powerband!

Holy sheet....How are you calculating engine RPM's? If tire size is involved, make sure to add in the ballooning factor, otherwise your rpms will differ.

Yep, I have factored in expansion into the spread sheet. I'm running 40 series bowties.

I've also got a somewhat accurate adjustment for the center diff unloading.

Believe me, it took about 1 hour to figure out the formula for it, then I plugged all the data into an excel spread sheet. The formula picks up its input from different tables.

The Hyper One Seven being much more aerodynamic and posessing much less rotating mass will probably be able to attain 60 to 70mph with the same engine. At 49,000rpm with the 17/21 gearing I'll be pushing nearly 80mph. I don't think the engine has enough power to hit that speed though. The true test will be when I get it up and running then we clock it. then I'll know for sure. The best method would be a GPS, but I don't have one so either a speed trap, or a radar gun is the best method at this point.

If I really want wicked speed I really need an on-road big block. Thats about the only thing that will satisfy my speed addiction.

i might just bring out the 9.5 with the O.S. .30 Eb mod and 2 speed on it SmileSmileSmile

should put up some good #'s

.30 really isnt as fast as ud think. Thats cool that you figured out those formulas man prolly took a ton of work, but i dont see a buggy breaking the 70mph barrier. one of those Rody mod RB C5 circuit motors would prolly help with ur need for speed lol

Its not a buggy, it may use some buggy parts but its FAR different, and way more aerodynamic.

Blue lambo, on the bottom. Its got the aerodynamics, just needs the power, whether through torque and taller gearing, or RPM and shorter gearing. It also has a 2spd which helps tremendously. My crappy, worn out $70 basher motor put it up to 47mph. The same engine barely has enough power to get a Jammin CRT past 35mph.

Its not a true 1/8th scale on-road, however it IS an onroad, and has far less rolling resistance, as well as being much more aerodynamic than a buggy.

There is a big difference between a Hyper 7, and a Hyper One Seven. Click on the Hyper One Seven link in the sig to see a profile picture of it.

And mike, the 30vg IS as fast as he thinks. My stock 30vg powered Jammin x1cr clocked 53mph with 15/46 gearing AND I didn't do any aerodynamic tricks to it, still had the wing, and I was running off-road tires. The NR 528xr LSP clocked 53mph as well, and its a little worn out (bought it used).

I fully expect that a EB Modded 30vg and a 2spd in a buggy will set some blistering speed records. The same motor that can take a 3.3 Revo to mid 40's, puts a Jato into the mid 60's. 20mph MORE.

I also have drag co-efficent calculators that can calculate theoretical top speed based on vehicle weight, CoD, gearing, and rolling resistance. However, I don't know the typical drag coefficents of a buggy, truggy, or many other RC's for example. So I can't use it as guessing could really throw off the results. I know the average CoD's for full size cars though.

I think the only real problem your going to have with that one seven is weight. You need a big motor to push it, but a small more to keep it going. The car is either going to be fast off the line or fast at top speed, and the middle I know isn't where your going to want to be. I think the kyosho has more potential, just for weight reasons, but I'm willing to bet that the kyosho probably weights that same as the one seven. But both you and I know that if you want fast electric is the way to go. The nitro's are neat but they can only push so hard, and any changes made will only make tiny changes. With electric changes leaps and bounds can be obtained, as long as the money is there.

ohhh i thought u were talking about the buggy doin 70, I could see that onroad doing it.

Well i guess you could put a 15 tooth bell on just about any motor and make it fast, Ive seen a few .30s at the track and for a motor that big I wasnt impressed with the power at all

The Kyosho is about 7.5lbs loaded from what I've read, johns is lighter.

The hyper is 9lbs, about 1lb less than the LSP truggy with much less rotating mass because of the smaller tires. When I can I'll be converting to the 2spd w/o reverse. But they don't import those parts and its hard to get ahold of them, even to get the price.

My Jammin buggy is 8lbs because its more heavy duty still moves good though.

Infact gene, I think your ST-R truggy is lighter than my Hyper one seven. Its that nasty 2spd w/reverse trans in the hyper 1/7 that is weighing it down.

my 9.5 has the 2 speed gear with the 51t first and 47t second but it came with a stock 11t/15t CB and i got a bigger 13t/17t for it so the 13t/51t firtst gear and 17t/47t second gar should move the buggy around pretty good.

only problem i see is the tires grippen as when im cruisen around 35 and go full throttle it likes to spin out and donuts SmileSmile but that was with brand new tires so thy werent even softened up yet.

the EB O.S. .30 is a pretty quick engine, it has quite a bit of power on it, it makes the stock OFNA .32 look like a little B**tch

Scott, you are looking at about 51mph @ 35000rpm in 2nd gear with the 13/17 cb.

Gene has a radar gun so we can clock it friday night. If anyone has a camera we can use the camera to determine time to distance through a speed trap at the end of the scale 1/4 mile with some math.

So what all info do you need to calculate speed? I have an 8ight, was running slicks (little rotating mass I would imagine) on pavement. Gear ratio was 48/13 um...Had a wing and body on...Ride height was around bones level.

you need the final drive train ratio, the tire size and the rpm, that will give you a good estimate, but this is only an estimate

there is tire ballooning, the real rpm's ot the engine, wind speed, too many veriables and you will only get a ball park figure at best

Uggh to much to figure out...I'll just stick with the actual 50mph I got and not see what "theoretical" would be Smile

yeah bills a smart dude, I would never sit in my house and try to figure this out. I think my head would explode.

Still bill I don't think my st... is all that light, it might be about a half a pound lighter then your truck but think off all the aluminum you've got on that thing. If your truck had as much plastic as mine it would be just as light.

One more thing on the 30's I drove bills jammin w/ O.S. 30 and that thing was sick at leisure. There wasn't a single place your could smash the throttle, and if you did in the straight you'd be in the wall at the end if you blinked. But other then that the engine was so unusable because the bottom end on that thing was sickning. You could come out of a turn and goose it right into a donut. I don't know why anyone would want to use that to race unless it was in a monster truck or heavy truggy.

racing is has more to do with the driver then the engine, its the driver who wins nto the engine
