Got a new phone and I was happy and all...Got a Samsung C417. Nothing special, but was easy on the eyes, thin, and lightweight. Got it middle of last week (so 4-6 days ago) . Go to answer a call today, and the f'ing screen on front is cracked! Went to the cingular store where we bought it, they basically said screw you, pay full price for a new one or get the hell out. It broke while in my pocket, with pens. Comon. New price is about $200 plus tax and activation or whatever the hell. So now I'm stuck with a broken phone for the next two years. Great.

STAY AWAY FROM THE SAMSUNG C417.

i did the same thing last year, well not realy my 100lb lamb ate it. this is what i did.

if you go and upgrade to a PDA phone you can get it for the plan price, i got the blackjack lst year for $100 just weeks after starting the new contract.

so if you upgrade to the PDA you can get it for the PDA plan price.

so it was cheaper for me to get the blackjack for $100 then replace my phone at $300

Just because werks gave ya free fuel for being a dummy doesn't mean the cell phone companies will too!! You prolly bumped into something and didn't realize, poof, cracked screen...

Welcome to real life, nothing is free! LMAO

Alright, ripping aside, if the phone still works, get the insurance for it. Wait a day or two, then go back and get another one! A $50 or so deductible is a whole lot better than $200 full price...

If you purchased it with a credit card, most have an extended warranty and loss and damage protection services that come as a benifit of the card. Call your card company to see if they offer this protection. It will get you a new phone at no cost.

Hmmm....I'm confused. When would I have purchased insurance?

And where now would I purchase it?

Just go back to the store and cuss the guy out, and maybe he'll give you a new phone! lol

Usually theres a warranty on cell's and you should be able to take it back within like a month or so and gte a new one if it broke and it wasnt your fault (like you said it was just in you pocket) they should give you a new one...

Found a helpful page, just going to do this. You think it matters if I got it in store or online? They only give advice for online but makes sense either way (store bought or online)

ponch call cust care and add REPLACEMENT/Repair, insurance, usually you have 30 days to add it after getting a new phone... do it now and wait it out for a week or 2... dont go back to the store...they sound liks ass's anyway. stores cant give you phones...

I'll call tomorrow (or whenever they open, might be monday) and see how much adding "replacement/repair" would cost me.

Um, house phone................

HOw do you guys kill phones so easily? My last one went 4.5 years before I killed it and Dad has had phones last even longer! We usually where those out before breaking them like out cars.................

My last phone lasted a good 2 years of abuse (dropping, taking apart etc) but this one, the clear cover over the front screen was just way too thin, flexed, and cracked the front screen.
