Mugen clutch

What are the good clutch shoes people are using now? I just took the clutch apart to clean everything and these shoes look like their 10 gallons old already. I deburred them and they look new again but im sure there gonna wear out soon since i already have at least 2 gallons throuh the truck. Thanks, Nick.

well nick...

I personally would stick to the stock shoes... I have had great sucess with them, so i personally feel there isnt a reason to change.

Not sure what springs you were running( prolly stock 1.0's) which is perfectly fine. Just try and do matinance on them a little more often and you will get 2 to 3 gallons easy from them.

alright thanks. And yes i am using the stock springs. I did get 2 gallons easy out of them and ill try to go for more. But how often do you think i should de burr them and do maintenince on them?

every 2 race days... If you really want them too last replace the springs every gallon... Cheap insurance

or get the 4 shoe and ur springs will last 8 gallons and shoes 3

ill stick with the 3 shoe stock for now cause im ordering a transponder and the ttr brakes and some oils so ill pretty much be broke.

If I remember right you wanted to break it in on the street and if your like me you pulled a few hole shots when race tuning. No good for your clutch. Those big tires have a harder time breaking loose on the pavement and the clutch takes the abuse. But two gallons isn't that bad anyway. If you want a clutch recommendation, Ive been using the turbo slider forever in the truck and got one for the buggy. Id call it the lazy mans clutch cause I forget its even a maintenance item. Ive never replaced the shoes yet so I cant say how long the ll last.
[FIO-OT-FR50] Fioroni Turbo Sliding Clutch Flywheel + Nut (Universal: Fits Mugen, TTR, OFNA etc.)
[FIO-OT-FR52] Fioroni Carbon (Black) Turbo Sliding Clutch + Clutch Shim
Make sure you start with a new clutch bell also. Don't run carbon shoes after aluminum.

Hey, just wondering hoe often you change the flywheel or do you change the pins. Just wondering cause mine were galled where the spring sits after a few month's. Oh wait, by then your probably replacing the whole kit.lol

lol...well, they do wear...not as bad with the max life shoes tho...they arent 100% alum, think they are some type of composite shit.

The Slider clutch reminds me of the same principal as the clutch a go-kart uses...
LSP lots of Khz, Werks .28 8 port.

Revo 2.5, TRX 3.3 Engine, Center Diff. Fast and Turns on a dime.

does it engage like the stock ones do? And how you have you went w/o changing them?

I put the slider in the truggy before we went outside this summer and clutch shoes still look pretty good. Ive had a spring break around the 2 gallon mark.
Engagement is pretty good, I think the aluminum hits a little harder but these make the truck easier to drive. Still no problem clearing obstacles indoor.

so how does the tuning go, take a spring out for less grab, and add one for more grab? And how does this clutch actually work with all the spings and stuff?

I had the stock mugens on. They never lasted long for me.

The Mugen Carbons did great while indoor and felt good too. No crazy take off with them. But once outdoor,they were gone in no time.

I had the 4-shoe set up going and that didnt last long either. Yes I know mike,maybe the wrong shoes. But I dont have the cash to buy 4 different sets to test.

I had the max life shoes on for 2 months. About 5-6 race weekends(IL series and pro) And the shoes lasted great. The cluch bell on the other hand didnt fair so well. Chad said it could of been just build up. But even sonny and jimbo said the bell was screwed. And they felt good too. So I bet I will go back to them soon. Just have to stay on top of keeping the bell clean.

Shity Pics AGAIN, but maybe you can see how it works and see how little wear after the whole outdoor season. Not that I ran that much. 1 Pro series and maybe 7-10 club races and still running good...VZB in the truggy.
For the little less it grabs, the cost savings makes up for it and makes me smile

I forgot something you may want to know. I had to shorten the colet on the flywheel side. The supplied clutch nut would bottom out on the colet before flywheel was tight. This also brought the bell back enough to center bell to spur gear and have proper end play.
