had a ton of fun today, and on the way home was passed by a c6 zo6 that was going at least 110(i was at ~65 mph)

Alpine Valley is awesome, we used to go there every year in a snowboard club for school.

Went to wilmot today and that was a ton of fun. Tested my new snow blades I got in a trade for my paintball gun.

You like Wilmot or Alpine better? I think Wilmot is a lot better. Better runs, and their snow machines seemed to make a lot better snow.

How were the snowblades?? I always thought they looked kind of retarded but could be fun. I have always just skied. I don't have that skater/snowboarder balance.

I prefer alpine or devils head. over wilmont.
How where the ski conditions? Was there any snow or just ice IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS MUST PAY.

He lives right by the WIIL 95.1 fm radio station in Pleasant Prairie, WI. He's nuts. We took that car down to Florida this last summer.

I don't have that skater/snowboarder balance.I skied from age 8-12, but when i was 13 i started boarding. I got my blades a few days ago and used em today. It was a ton of fun. I don't skateboard, but I do snowboard and wakeboard, in fact I am a snowboard teacher in winter and a ski boat driver in summer. SLOW REVO Wrote:I prefer alpine or devils head. over wilmont.Today there was NO ice. Every run had at least 2-3 inches of powder, some had significantly more. It was the best conditions I've seen at wilmot. FreeRideFrosty Wrote:Cascade Mountain is pretty good too. Bittersweet in Michigan was alright too...I love cascade, its a pretty far drive though. Never been to Bittersweet, although I went to Boyne 5 or 6 years ago. I can't wait till next year when I go to University of Colorado at Boulder. I should have a GREAT time there, boarding, skiing, mountain biking, oh and i guess some studying

How was Boyne? We're going up there over Martin Luther King day this year.
I hope we can make it back up to Granite Peak sometime this year too.

Boyne was incredible. I was only 11 or 12 at the time, but I had a hell of a good time.
Never been to granite peak, hope to check it out this winter.

Roughly what would a Friday, Saturday, and Sunday cost to do some skiing in WI? Looking to go up there for maybe a weekend or a couple days over winter break with a few friends.

Lift tickets will probably be about $150 for the whole weekend. Then if you all split a room whatever that will be.

No problem. Probably have to add rentals on top of that. I think they are usually around $40-$50 a day for skis and boots, maybe $60-$70 for a board.
Sometimes if you stay at the slope's resort/hotel you can get a special with rentals included or a discount for rentals. You could also look into renting skis around here, sometimes they are cheaper than near the slopes. Another thing to try is to go to Goodwill or a thrift store and sometimes they have an older set of skis that you can pick up for next to nothing.

So how hard is it to snowboard and how many days will I spend on my face from catching my toe edge? And how wide of a board do they make because I have size 12 ish clown feet and don't want to completely duck out my stance....
12-06-2007, 07:27 AM
Its easy, it takes a few tries but youll get used to it pretty quick. I went to Four lakes my first time and just took it slow, crashed a few times but i had the hang of it by the end of the day. Now jumping you need alot of practice at, landings kinda hard but practice is all you need. And I dont know about board sizes, my boots hang over the board, i think alot of peoples do, No big deal.

I tried it once and just couldn't do it. I think it was because I am so used to being able to move my feet seperatly, I've been skiing since I was three. If I really took the time, got lessons and just practiced I'm sure I could do it.
