Sweet ride Tex!

Is a RB 9886 pipe the same as the 086? If it is, your welcome to try mine out.

Tex, I like the dirt guards on the rear arms. Innovative thinking!

MaxxGS Wrote:Mich, what is the fix for the OS 18?

this is the fix http://www.rdracingproducts.com/store/pr...ucts_id=94. The main problem was that the connecting rod was moving around to much and scrapping on the engine block and making metal shavings. And the result of this was premature engine wear. this spacer prevents the the connecting rod from moving to much and thus saving the engine. So it doesnt matter if you were the worlds best engine tuner because this was still gonna happen to you.

If you're going to do that update to that motor, make sure you have extra g-clips! I had a few shoot out on my when trying to remove the wrist pin, lol.

Right and to make things clearer, I loved my TM, and I think they are very reliable. BUT I've owned BB's and SB's and I'd have to say overall the BB's are more reliable.

Thanks for the props guys!

ORC, I would like to try the actual RB or NR version of the 086, but thanks for the offer. (I know your thinking "well the ofna is just a copy so it should be the same right?"
Wrong......

Sounds like I should do this mod to my TM before I run it. Thanks Ryan.

Anyone have a spare spacer they want to sell? LMK.

Stupid question but.......why doesn't OS modify the piston design to include some material in that area to keep the rod when it belongs? Or is this only a problem IF you switch the backplate?

it's a problem all around, bad design on their part.

I run a Parma Xciter body

yeah Dave, the crimes are standard size on standard rims

I know! Soon enough I promise.

Trouble will be that my 13 yr old will wan to be racing and I'll end up pitman. And he never drives the thing to get any wheel time. Should be fun to watch the carnage though.

well Rd Racing has tried to contact os directly through phone, emails, faxes ect. The best answer they got was they would have to write a letter to the over sea's company. Apparently the one in the us was just a distributor so this wasnt the place to talk to them about it. But this is only a problem on the tm and tz engine and not the other os engines so i guess thats good. The spacer fits on both motors and will fix the problem so unless you only want about 2 gallons out of your motor you should definatly pick that up. And it doesnt matter if its pullstart, bump start, or rotostart. It will still happen regardless so this spacer is a must have for those 2 engines.

and here is the link to there forums were he has pictures and a really good write up of the problem. http://www.rdracingproducts.com/forums/i...wtopic=974 . And yes my previous engines looked exactly like that. So far the one i got now looks brand new still so as of now the spacer is doing its job.

Great info for TM prospective buyers. It does sort of suck that you have to take your new engine down to the wrist pin before you even run it, but so it goes!

It kind of makes you think OS should take that "Drop In" statement out of their ads.

What Gabe? Actually that TM I got from you was fine because it was the pull start type. I've subsequently ground down the pin on the crank and put a backplate on it. I've also put in the spacer but have sent it to TNT Mods for a little "massaging" along with another motor. I'm going to be sending a 2.5r also.

And BTW, I got a response from RB Concepts regarding them possibly producing a Revo race oriented .18. NO. Sad
