Nick,

That's cool. I have seen some 1/8th electrics here and there. There had/has been one up at the RockPile track near Madison, WI. I would love to have you stop by and try it out. Maybe you could let me know if next year's track should be bigger.

Have you had anyone running at your track yet, Bob?

Nobody has showed up there yet. I plan to keep it available for years to come, even if it is just me having fun on it.

For my own racing (since I need to be racing), I have been enjoying StrictlyRC on-road racing in Norridge, IL. But if folks want to show up at my off-raod track, I am happy to be there and show it off. Stop by, visit, try it out, offer an opinion, post back here, tell a friend.

I think if there is interest in the track later, I will spruce it up a little bit at a time. I think it may become quite an asset in the local area for enthusiastic racers.

The thing I really like about the track this year is that it can pour down rain and the track is in race-worthy shape not too long afterward -- very decent drainage. It is also not rocky, for those concerned about chassis damage.

I had a request for a visit today. Here will be a handy map to help anyone looking to come. It is kind of remote and farmish:

Google Maps

The small green-roofed house in the middle has a circular driveway in front of it. The track is behind the house (to the north).

Here is a larger view:

Next weekend, Sunday the 13th would be a great day. Sometime before and/or after high noon is best for anti-mosquito timing. I will be happy to hold it open if someone indicates interest before the absolute last moment. Nobody actually made it out yet, Rusty.

it looks like it is going to rain so hopefully my wife wont plan out the whole weekend! Ill post up on friday when and if I can make it out your only 10-15 min away at most so even just a quick trip and a few packs would still be worth it! Im in the kenedy homes off genoa and logan. Hopefully the rack will dry to a nice tacky state if it is a wet one.

Just what I've been waiting for...a date. I just didn't want to show up. If the weather is good you can count in 2 Slashes!:joy:

Sounds neat. I would like to see the slashes.

You might find the dirt a little bit surprising -- it is never "tacky". It is never really muddy either. It is not topsoil-like. It is loam-ish. It will drain quick and be runnable quick. If we had a 12-hour downpour and it quit raining for an hour, you could come out and race.

So, to recap, this would be the first meeting at the track. "You" might be the only person to show up??? There is no lap system in place yet. There IS electricity and track watering. The driver's stand is tiny, so personal step-ladders could be useful if lots of folks come. It's 'free', since it is NOT a business (dog-gone zoning) -- it is like I am inviting friends over to play some b-ball or have a barbeque. Oh, and electric only please. Your feedback will be appreciated and used to make the track better.

Since there "may" be a collection of folks showing up fromdifferent parts. I will have to announce some times. Let's say that showing up at 10:30 for practice and showing up at 12:30 for racing would be the rough idea. These are normal kinds of track times at most places. It's a guideline. If you are chronically earlylike me, show up a bit early. If you can't show up until later, stop by anyway. By evening time, get the heck back homeSmile.

front feels like a cracked diff cup, and rear feels like stripped pinion/ring.. anyone got spares? I'd show up and do a quick rebuild lol. I might show up anyways, just to check it out.. if anyone has a spare loaner truck, i could run, please pm me?

I just went and made a sign that will be near the road. It just says "RC" and has an arrow pointing. I will put some festive flags up there too, to get your attention. There are lots of places to park, just drive down the driveway, and if you're careful, you can pull back to my backyard.

Maybe we can get my son to loan out his T4 for a while.

looks like i won't need a loaner.. fixed the rear diff, and i took the front apart.. everything looked fine, put it back together, and it works fine.. i didn't completely clean out the fluid, so maybe a spider's missing a tooth? last time I ran it, the front diff was like locked.. but you could move it if you turned REALLY hard.. when running, it was basically a front spool. no clue, but it works fine now.
