I like al's cause its close. But...hobbytown in aurora is great, cause you get the indian couple chasing you around trying to "make deal"...and that big dude at the door who sighs every time you ask a question.

I usually go to AL's but also go to Hobby Town Saint Charles or venture hobbies. I really don't have a favorite. Just depends on my mood since I'm in the middle of all three of those shops it takes me about the same amount of time to get to any of them.

I go to Al's 99% of the time.
I really don't like HobbyTown USA in Aurora. It is about 10 mins from me, however, I don't think I will ever go back. I bought something from them one time and I found that something was missing from the package. So, I called them the next day and the female owner answered the phone. I told her what happened and she would just try to hang up and say call the manufacturer. I had customers here. Then she just hung up. How rude was that?! And their stuff is so overpriced compared to other shops.

I guess I don't have a favorite. I'm so fed up with the
piss-poor attitudes of the guys behind the counter
that I just buy everything online unless I need
something right now.
I agree with you about Hobbytown in Aurora.
What a freakshow. Bought my MGT there.
I'll never go back.
Sorry..... didn't mean to rant.....

yeah the attitude thing is the reason why I usually deal with only certain people at each of the hobby shops. I don't like anybody at the Rc counter at Venture very much. Big time attitude. Als's isn't bad because most of the people there know I just walk in with part #'s and ask to rummage through the bins myself especially if hey are super busy.

Al's is my favorite as far as who works there. Leisure is my favorite in selection of parts. The HT in Aurora charged my credit card 3 times for 1 tmaxx. It was fudged up.

I agree with Tex... At Al's, it seems like the people are a little more helpful, but Leisure has a HUGE selection, over any of the Hobby Shops I've been to. Unfortunately they are both a good distance away. Worth the trip once in a while though....

Sure Six, rub it in.... You are so good at finding deals, I should have you find me a LST Tranny on there.... lol
Crash is sending out the LST, since he and BBMax won't make it to the Expo. He was getting it ready, and noticed a "bad" noise in the Tranny, so he knocked off $50 and added in some extra goodies...

Al's is good if you can get there during the day during the week. The times I've gone there after work, its a mad house. If I feel like getting raped as soon as I walk in the door, I'll go to Aurora which is 2 minutes from my house. Needless to say I dont go there! Something about hearing "U want to buy t-maxx? Make you good deal" (in classic mom's voice)everytime I walk in, after I bought my Sportmaxx there gets alittle aggervating. If I have the time to wait, I'd rather get it online.

I 2nd the Ebay! I like RC Boyz and a few others for good prices and shipping. I do most of my R/C shopping online as most of the LHS's are an hour or more away and normally you can find the part you want on Ebay for much less!

I am glad so many people have the same problem with Hobbytown USA in Aurora. They said the big guy John knows everything, however, I saw him race on-road right in that parking lot last year, his car died so many times that I lost count. Oh well...
I agree that we should support our LHS, however, if they charge so much more than online, why would I. At the end, it is my money. I know they have overhead cost, however, they should not charge that much.
BTW, do you know how can UltimateHobbies.com sell the Savage RTR for $369 and SS for $299 with free shipping? Do you know what the retail price(not street price or internet price) is for Savage? I know distributors usually give 50% off retail price to hobby shop. I heard that a Savage RTR retail is over 700. So, 50% is $350! Do they make any money? I just want to know. Anybody knows anything?

I have bought about 85% of my stuff off of eBay. Thats where I got my truck and its where I got most of my upgrades. I usually only goto the hobby shop for gas and smaller stuff.

Al's is my LHS of choice. Venture is the backup, however Ebay or online are becoming a favorite as of late.

So, what do you buy online usually?
I bought tires, wheels, ignitor, my Savage and EMaxx, batteries and some other accessories.

I like Al's. It's close to home and most of the stuff I need is usually in stock. I'll order online if what I need isn't in stock somewhere.

I like The Hobby Garage as well. Yes they don't stock as many parts as Al's or Leisure- But everythime I have been there they have been really nice and helpful.
I wish I lived closer to Al's.
The times I have been to Leisure- they have been really rude to me.

Well I dont have a hobby shop near me. I used to go to one on Irving Park but it closed. I use all Online ( Tower or Ebay). Gets to me in one day or the most two days. I would support a LHS if it was close however the amount of gas money i would spend would kill me.

Leisure are cool to experienced RCers and people they know. Otherwise yeah they are pretty much all jackass's for the most part. A lot of LHS employees are that way though. Al's was like that to me until I got to know them. So was Leisure.
