Correct. It takes talent to have a losing team year after year and yet still have fans dumb enough to fill the park. And I guess the sox were lucky to have a coach like Ozzy who knew the game well enough to put them where they needed to be in such a short time as manager.

wait wait wait, losing seasons year after year, what about 2003? where were the sox then. How far have they gotten in years prior to this. Yes they won the WS I will give u that congratulations. But how are the Cubs supposed to get anywhere when they have had the injuries that they had. Lets take away Burhle and Garland and I bet the Sox wouldnt have won 80 games. I wont even start on all the injuries in the field.

Injuries happen... no one can say how they will affect a season untill they happen. All that I can say is that the cubs have gone nowhere. The one year that looked almost promising turned into the worst thing that can happen to an organization. They were immature enough to blame the loss of their entire season on one person. You can't tell me that in that split second you could hold back a natural reaction. Face it... they choked. The cubs fans are all upset that unlike they were hoping for, the sox didn't/ That is that. We will wait untill next season to see what happens. Untill then the cubs have no room to talk. Anyone can speculate about what should happen...

Well, the Cubs like to sign big names that don't produce, i.e. Latroy Hawkins (yeah has great as a Twin), um Nomar ( he has been injured more then he played). Wood will never be in the 98 season shape ever again. The only pitcher the Cubbies have is Mark Prior. And Dusty Baker is supposed to be this great manager, but every cubs game I watched he was just sitting there chewing on that damn (pardon my language) toothpick. I could go on but, then it would get mean. I mean I like the Cubs, but I'm a Sox fan. Yeah some the games the Sox won where pure luck, but most was because you have no selfish talent on the sox except for maybe Thomas which that problem has been solved. I mean I never seen Ozzie stationary he is always jumping around the dugout. It's all about chemistry you have good team chemistry you'll have a good team, I mean look at the Pats in the NFL the past couples of years(maybe not this year). And look what happened to the Eagles, with all the TO and McNabb stuff. But getting Jim Thome and resigning Paulie shows the Sox want to keep winnig, and they will. But will have to see what happens after winter meetings, where Cubs pick up another pitcher that they will never use or gets injured in spring training. Ok rant over.

im sure u u would say maddux sucks to along with ryan dempster. After The first year the cubs had dusty everyone was happy with how well he was doin. The first year the Sox got Ozzie there was all kind of doubt. Nobody blamed him when they had losing seasons. THe Cubs go through a two year slump, and everybody blames dusty. I agree that alot of the things that happen during cubs games i just dont understnad. Im not sayin dusty is some genius but cmon ozzy isnt anything special either...

No Maddux is sure hall of famer, and yeah Dempster had a good year, but when your offense can't give you the run support, there is something going on. I think that D Lee deserved NL MVP, but they also give to a player on a playoff team. Each manager has a different style of manager, I never seen Dusty taking the blame for the loss, but Ozzie also took the lose as his fault, I think that helped keep the team postive. And Dusty loves to play the race game too, and that has no place in sports and society. I mean Cubs fan and Sox fans will never agree on baseball but thats what make the city rivalary so much fun.

i will never blame the cubs loss on one person! it was the umps fault i saw many games that the cubs got screwed on calls!!!!!!!! but i will never blame it on that! yeah they choked! the cubs pitching/hitting needs to improve a lot! but there is no way you can blame that on dusty! it is not his fault he has to work around injuries, or poor judgement on the owners behalf! i'm sorry but the ownership needs to step up to the plate and put a complete winning team on the field! i understand them though! if i could make the same amount of money with a cheap crappy team as i could with a great expensive team i would take the crappy team! but they need to realize that cubs fans are a dieing breed! everyone is switching to another team so they don't have to deal with the constant losing or humiliation at the hands of soxs fans! cubs fans take more chit than a fat guy with diarhea(i had to say it hehe)! but i will always stick by my cubbies! win or lose!

btw my devotion is based on the fact that i was born and raised in bridgeport(southside) and i'm still a northside fan!

dude, the cubs had one of the highest paid rosters in the majors again this year. THey aren't a cheap crappy team lol. THey sign big name guys who played good for their respective teams then that storm cloud comes over them and they suck ass.

I have been a baseball fan all my life life well at since I was like 5 (1980)(yeah I'm old). One thing I have noticed that. When a player goes to Cubs one of two things happens, they become a decent player, or they become Luis Salazar grade (for any of you older Cubs fan you should remember him from the early ninieties). But as soon as they get traded to another team, they become a great player i.e. Greg Maddux, Dontrelle Willis, Rafeal Palermero, and more. Now the management is trying to buy the talent to win now, becasue thats what the fan want. I think they need to take lessons from Goerge Stienbiener in New York and learn how to ruthless in aquiring players. But it doesn't help when the Tibune Company has metioned publicly that they are considering putting the Cubs up for sale. Which personally I think is a good idea.

really as of now im just a fan of baseball. It has turned way to much into who makes what and how much can we pay for this guy. I just like baseball when the teams are having fun and playing to win. I used to play baseball all the time and because of how stupid MLB got i just stoped playing because it wasnt fun anymore. I think there should be some sort of system for paying players like how long they have been there and how they perform on and off the field. That way it keeps everyone wanting to do more but yet balance out some of the problems they have now.
