Tips for Pit Lane???
#26
Stupid pitman question:

IF your truck dies doing a qual/main, can the pitman enter the track to get it? Or does a marshall have to bring it off?

AND, if your pitman can (because you have an EZstart Revo), is he allowed to restart a truck while on the track, or anywhere other than in the pits? Can he restart a stall off the track but not in the pits?

imo the pitman should get the truck because if the marshall has to leave his post he wont be able to perform his duties. as for restarting on the track i would think that if your in a corner or something where your not in the views of the drivers it would be ok. my .02

Pit men are supposed to go get the dead truck off the track. Marshals are not supposed to bring Rc's into the pits.

what about where to properly restart a stall?

I suppose youn can restart anwhere if you have means to do that. Just toss the truck back down on the track where it died and start from there.

the truck should be brought back to the pits. its the fair thing to do.

the only thing a marshal has to do is set the car off the track, if the pit guy goes out to get it, the marshal can hand it to him, but the marshal should never try to fix or return the truck/car... not his responsibility.

See this is where it gets so confuzzling.

I have read where pitman should not marshall any truck. But what "rule" fair or written, is followed about where and when you restart a stall. If I'm stalled and I can get restarted right where I am, can I? If I can get off the track and restart, can I? Or must the truck be brought ot the pit and rejoin the race via the pit lane? I really wanna make sure we aren't taking an unfair advantage because we didn't know the procedures.

Are there any written rules on racing that apply for LHR?

ok here is why i say its not fair...

at the dirt dawgs last race, a car was flaming out a bunch... his pit guy had a starter box on the turn BEFORE the timing loop.... lets say for extreme example that he flamed out shortly after the loop... got ran back to BEFORE the start loop, got refired and took off over the loop again. potentially he never lost any time and maybe improved his position... anyone else that would have gotten restarted at pit lane would loose alomost a lap and a 1/2 for time to run the car back and RERUN the whole track before crossing the loop again since the loop was BEFORE the pit entrance.

it may not be in a rule book, but some tracks have it posted like hardestys. its is to be fair.

And maybe this is why the Start/Finish is where it is at LHR?

Anyone who has to come off the track and back to the pits are all about the same spot from the timing line when they reenter the race. So if everyone agrees and complies that stalled trucks must restarted in the pits, regardless of starting method, there can't be any unfair advantage gained.
