I agree with your reasons for going back to the 2.5 TRX. I would like to here how the OS carb works on the 2.5 TRX engine. I think alot of 2.5 problems are because of the carb they use.

well if your going sunday you can check mine out. Definatly a lot more reliable. Engine running pig rich with the needles almost backed out and it still just sat there idling on its own. I didnt keep it that rich but definatly shows me its got some reliability.

I'm thinking about going Sunday. I've been working so much I'm not up to speed with the Leisure Hours schedule. I guess I need to read and see what days are what.

LoL... I'm glad that ryan is happy with the motor and that I found out the downside of the TM before dropping the coin on one. I will be getting a radio and as soon as that is out of the way probably the XTM. For $60 it can't hurt to try. If it sucks it will play backup to my 2.5...
And I didn't re-shim the head for 30% either...
01-28-2006, 03:30 AM
I haven't shimed any of the engines I have run 40% in, and have had no problems.
01-28-2006, 11:42 AM
What's a shim? lmao
j/k..But yeah I never reshimmed my head for 30%. What were you supposed to do, add one or take one off? Tekno EB48.4 HobbyWing XR8 Sanwa M12

01-28-2006, 11:50 AM

On a light day (after the Trophy Race) we finished at 5:00pm.....SuperBowl right?
01-29-2006, 01:10 PM
About 5 or 6. If there are a lot of people longer I would assume... LoL. When I was there there were about 80 people I think and we got out at a little after 5.
01-29-2006, 01:16 PM
ur supposed to add a shim for 30% as it will cause too much stress on ur motor if u dont, it will run like a raped ape for awhile but it wont last as long as a properly shimmed motor.
FYI most .21's are shimmed for 25% nitro .18 and lower are setup for 20%

Those those who say' I just run 30%, no problem" are just slowly pulling the pin on a gernade? Maybe this is why so many guys say OS18's are crap and fail after 2 gallons?
01-29-2006, 01:23 PM
Maybe that is why my 2.5 made it 1.75 gallons...??
01-29-2006, 01:25 PM
Dunno? That or the inverted 40,000rpm 1/2backflips?
What exactly broke on the 2.5? Were those pieces of the piston skirt?
01-29-2006, 01:26 PM
possibly yes, Im not sure what the correct deck heights need to be for those motors to run 30%, but they usually come with the proper shim to make it right.
