general revo discussion
I think it's hit or miss with traxxas motors. My first 2.5 (that came with the truck) was a tuning nightmare from the beginning till the end. The one I have now has been rock solid since tank 1. Great temps, good power, no flameouts except when I leave it idle too long (I have the low end a tad rich to have above average lube since the motor is still pretty new).

i agree with tune its a hit or miss on the traxxas motors. mine was great until the bearings went out. atleast i got 5 gals outa it tho.

I love my REVO. I was looking for a while trying to decide on what i wanted. My friend was going to get one but when he got to the hobby shop he got duped into buying the jammin truggy. I bought the REVO and after having them out together i have more fun driving the REVO.

Clutch Question:

Which is best for stock 2.5R engine?
Reply
I use the mip clutch and I love it. You can get like 3-5 gallons on it before needing to be replaced. Its only 15 dollars and well worth the money

Thanks!

The stock is $6 and is the same clutch minus the second hole drilled in the shoe. Stock also lasts about 5 gallons depending.

I say go with the stock. That's what I run too. I changed mine out for the first time last month just because I was still running the original one and I've had the truck like 10 months already. I changed it for preventice maintenance, not because it was bad.

Mine went about 2 gallons on the stock motor and another 3 with the 18TM and it was still going. I put in a new one with the latest 2.5R I had purchased.

I shall leave it stock until it fries! Thanks, all.

Belive it or not...I ran the stock carbon clutch with that VZB .21 and it was working great, not sure how long it would last but it did work. I'm running the same stock set up w/ the Sirio .23 and it's holding up great.

I got my revo all put together with a lot of new stuff and all tweaked out. Since the last time I raced I added...... 17mm ofna hubs, tekno rc throttle mount, extended rear arms, new box and radio peices. Battery now sits were the stock gas tank is and the reciever and switch are now inside a t-maxx box mounted up front. Fuel tank now has rubber o-rings and washers keeping it held on so bad jumps wont damage the tank now.

Just got everything installed and all tweaked out this morning and put 4 tanks through it. 17mm hubs probly made it an inch or inch and a half wider, the arms extended the truck 3/4th of an inch. Now my truck is 1 3/4th inch longer then stock and probly an inch and a half wider. My gearing is currently 16/38/st and its insane. The bottom end is nutz. Highest temps I could get were 230. For some reason shifting into second gear is silent so I had to adjust it just by listening to the engine rpm's and I think its just about right. It shifts a little early but that might be fine at leisure so im just gonna leave it. Engine is a little rough at idle but as I recall I only have maybe a quart of fuel max through this engine.

Im all ready for The Race For The Cure now. Got my setup station drilled out for the 17mm rims and its all tweaked out now. Now I just need to learn to drive again. Cant wait to get to the track now.

Sounds cool. I wonder how the wheel bearings will hold up to the bigger heavier 17mm hubs. I think you have the RD knuckles so you should be good.

What rims/tires are you running?

Im running the rd racing knuckles so it already has the bigger bearing for 23mm hubs. Just for bashing I got some savage x tires and rims. For leisure I got some ofna half offset rims with boa c's. These rims are the same offset as standard max rims so it should be good.

Its wider and longer then my crt. Its nutz. Handles so good outside on my front lawn. Its really wierd to drive it now.

I hear ya. Wait until you get it on the track. Mine handled way better with alot of extension that before. Much easier to drive too.

Mine is longer than my hellfire by a tad. Almost as long as a lsp too.

so what does a revo look like with 17mm hex adapter and an ext chassis with setback arms? Well really wide and really long.

Mich, is that antenna on a spektrum receiver, or a normal one? and if it's a normal one, if it safe to run it that short since we're on a limited space indoor track?

Well folks, my revo is all setup for the big race this weekend Smile. I've included my setup sheet for this race for you guys to check out.

For those who've been looking for a good setup at lh for their revo's, here you go. This works great for me and my driving style. With a setup very close to this (only changes since then was camber/toe settings), I was able to nab up 4th at the last trophy race at LH.

cool. I'm pretty close to that setup.

The track is going to take some getting used to by me, I'm all over still, haven't found my line yet.
