This is exactly the type of starting gate I've been talking about! It's about 1 minute into the video:

Max, it's a big pile up within the first 30 ft because cars 4-7 jump the gun and rearend the top qualifiers.

Now that is a cool gate! No worries about stalling on the start, and no pile ups on take off....perfect Big Grin

Yeah, that happen to me once. I was starting 4th in the a-main and I took off nice and easy so I would NOT run into 3rd place and up.....and low in behold, I got slammed from behind before the first turn...and of course there was no in marshall in sight to get me off the wall and I ended up in last place crossing the starting line with the 1st place truck on my tail already

I still made my way back to a 3rd place finish though, but I have to wonder what I could have done if I didnt have to make a come back from last place,
but hey.....thats racing, right? Smile

But with a gate like that design....NONE of them would.

The guy that runs N-Control said they start piling up in turn 3-4. So yes it helps in the initial start but they still get pile ups, it's not fool proof.

there is no full proof way unless you dont crash into somebody else. In order for this to happen ALL the drivers must avoid crashing. In the mains your running against people of your skill level so it wont matter were you place on the first lap because if your a good enough driver your going to come back and get a top spot if not win. If not it will only make you faster by being challenged to play catch up.

At least the sequential gate starts the guys in the order they qualify. There is no jumping the gun. Now they can always ram the leader when they catch him, but that can happen anytime during a race.

Mass "land grab: starts, like in Arenacross are thrilling and they guys with the best start grab the lead, but in our racing you qualified to start in position #1, you get to line up in position #1, you deserve to have the guys behind you wait for the Start horn, light, tone whatever...before they try to gain an advantage by jumping the start.

I think this was Bruces comment.

"because cars 4-7 jump the gun and rearend the top qualifiers"

He is right. If everyone started at the same time, then it's a fair start. If someone(s) leaves early, they are cheaters.

Well dave if you qual 11th behind sonny ( Or whoever is constently the TQ) and have to wait 11 seconds to even start moving before he does the guy will have a F'in lap on you by the time you get to the straight!!!! I think being in front is advantage enough! If your in front your fast enough and skilled enough to be gone before the lower seated riff-raff can mess you up.

Again, Roc, my point is, if everyone would WAIT and start on the GO signal, everything would be fine. But there always guys who look for that little edge on the hit.
