I am thinking about putting a Picco .27 that I have laying around into my Revo. Now would this engine have useless power for racing? and it will prolly definately be good for bashing right? Also, since this is a BB, what BB engine mount do you guys suggest I get?

What engine you think would be good for LHR?

well I think any good 21 will work. for leisure something with good top end is to ur advantage. I would recommend a RB WS7II or 3. Even the 3.3 motor would prolly be good enough

Yeah.... I was thinking the 3.3. I will prolly just stick with the 3.3 so I dont have to get a BB conversion mount ect.
Does the extended chassis help alot while racing?

Yeah, it will help alot with racing, because you are going to be wheelieing, setbacks and the center diff will help it.

You're nuts. No BB is needed in a revo for racing. The 3.3 is more than enough power. Anything more is uncontrolable.... I had a BB in mine. Stupid fast.... but not for racing.

Dont tell Tex hes nuts. He does very well with a P5 And dont forget hoe big that ooutdoor track is.
Yes, for most a slower/less power motor will get us around a track quicker. but pulling wheelies down the straights sure is fun

Dan an RB wouldnt be nuts, thats why i run one in my buggy. It doesnt have as much high rev low end like all the motors u guys love. He asked for something for LH and with all of the huge straights i think a motor like that would work well

And what motor did Tex switch to for more reliable, controlable power?? He drove the P5 well.... yes, but there are better choices. I would fear him more on the track now than before.

I hate to break it to you but a buggy is a lot different than an SMT. A BB is not necessary in the revo....

I loved the added power. It was AWESOME for bashing. The wheelies on command were a ton of fun. For racing though.... it was overkill....

A 3.3 is all you need in a revo. It makes crazy power, and is very controllable. BB's are very hard on revo drivetrain parts. Ask tex how many times he busted stuff with his P5. He has since gone back to the small block via the 3.3 motor. Plus, if you get competative and want to race in the pro series or other major santioned race, their is a big weight penalty on the revo's that have bb's in them.
The extended chassis should be standard equipment on a racing revo, IMO. Helps keep the wheels down alot and keeps the truck more stable and forgiving. Makes it easier to drive.
Also, if you're going to run a 3.3, go pick up the ths exhaust! After breaking my vantage pipe, I switch to the stocker for some test and tune in front of my house to compare to the vantage. Then I installed the ths exhuast. WOW! Night and day difference! At the track yesterday I thought I was running it way lean from the sound of it. It was screaming like crazy on the front straight! I checked the temps after the race and it was only 195! Huge improvement over both the vantage and stock pipes!

You should not put a picco .27 in a revo, no..no..no...no..no...too much torque.
If you do want serious, reliable, .21 power in a revo the RB WS7 is an awesome choice. Mike Czech stated why and that's because it has killer power mid-top but the bottom doesn't hit as hard as most BB's. Plus the strait at Leisure is 200ft+ and no other MT's would touch you down the strait.
If you want more reliability in a revo, stay small block. If you want no reliability but gigantic power when it's running, then Picco.27

Now you got me in a delema though. Cause I dont know if I wana go with the RB or the 3.3 now.
Im hoping to get the 3.3 chassis next week via ebay and then the engine will come next. I am hoping to be able to get out to LHR this summer.

Meaning that you want to stay with the 2.5 or that you still want to go with another BB?? Don't get me wrong, BB is fun, just not at all practical.

Oh.... gotcha.
I would reccomend the 3.3. That thing is wickid. I saw it run at the bash and I was extremely impressed. The RB still may be a little much. (Isn't the 3.3 cheaper too?? Not to mention the motor replacement program Traxxas has....)

For racing, I'd go with the 3.3. For beginners, I'd even recommend sticking with the 2.5R for racing. For beginners, learning to drive and not crash is more important that having the most power available. The more powerfull the motor, the harder it is to drive.

You put the Vantage .15 exhaust on your 3.3? If you did, then that is wrong exhaust to use. You should be using their .18-.21 pipe.

I had the vantage revo pipe on there. It was designed to be a replacement to the stocker, which I believe hasn't changed since traxxas introduced the 3.3 revo.
